Sci-Fi Poll

Dec 06, 2007 00:21

This originated from a discussion I had with a group of fellow sci-fi geeks. I'm curious about my flist's opinion on the matter. Now, I do have to add a disclaimer. I know I let a lot of stuff out, but 1) It's 12:30 in the morning, and I'm tired 2) I'm more familiar with those shows that aired in the US. Note that the poll is geared toward TV ( Read more... )

Ah? Oh, that's Zoe Washburn. From Firefly. She has a big gun, and a cute manslave who plays with dinosaurs *teehee* =D! Also, she is a very cool lady and role model. I would want my daughters to play with Zoe dolls instead of Barbie dolls. *nodnod*

Ah! I'm just now learning about Firefly. I was writing my Senior Honors thesis when it first debuted, so I missed it.

I've never seen Firefly either, but I added it to the list at the behest of my friends at work.

I should have complicated the issue by adding specific criteria (writing, impact, coolness, etc.).

I'll watch it one day...it was only on less than a year...it has some heavy contenders surrounding it for a show that was on for such a short amount of time.

I really need to catch up on BSG before March.

Yeah, it's actually surprising to me that I run across so many fans who love the show with such fervor. It's actually doing pretty well on the poll...

I voted based on who I thought would be able to stand the test of time. Even though I haven't watched The X-Files or Star Trek those shows are more likely to be remembered in my opinion because they appealed to way more people outside of the Sci-Fi community than some other shows. So as much as I love both Stargate series I feel that not as many people are aware o f the shows as opposed to others on your list. And I love Firefly too, but once again the audience wasn't that big it sure didn't help that they got less than a seasons worth of episodes.

While I agree that X-Files and Trek will definitely stand the test of time, I think the Stargate franchise will, as well. SG-1 already made television history by becoming the longest running sci-fi show in North America, has spawned a successful franchise, and it pretty much made the Sci-Fi network a viable enterprise.

You forgot Jack O'Neill. How is that possible? To forget Jack? I am hurt and quite upset (OK not that much). Torn between Mal and Jack. Good place to be.
