How many real friends do you have? I have none.

Only one. Fell into the friendship purely accidentally. Only person in the world I feel I don't have to make an effort to make friends with. If there's one thing I can't handle it's making effort. Because I am a hermit type.

Have you tried travelling abroad? Sometimes that helps expand your friendship circle.

There are no such thing as real friends. Every last one of those B****** will stab you in the back faster than fat man eating pie at a pie eating contest. I am content with my on line life and don't wanna meet a single one. That will just ruin what relationships we have.

...speak for yourself, anon. I have a few close friends and I would do pretty much anything for them, including helping out when one suffered domestic abuse and talking someone down from suicide.

My brother & sister in law just had their first baby. So, yay! babies.

But they've given the poor wee sod a HORRIBLE name (and no, I'm not putting it on here, even anon; I'm not THAT daft).

I know it's got nothing to do with me, it's their choice, yadda yadda.

But OMG what were they thinking? And how will I keep a straight face the first time I have to pick the wee mite up and say hello to him?

You'll get used to it and it will stop seeming horrible. And, in fact, any negative associations you have with that name will be replaced with positive associations you have with the kid. You may end up liking the name in the end.

I can tell you that kids with strange and unusual names do not get teased about it the way people seem to think they should. No more than people with perfectly ordinary common names do. Kids with common names just earn mocking nicknames. In fact most of the kids I've known with odd names actually loved their names because they were unusual and distinctive and they didn't have to share them with anyone else.

I have a strange and unusual name, and I got teased a LOT. Actually, I got teased the most about my last name, which was even MORE strange and unusual. I hated it so much - the name AND the teasing - that when I was 30, I changed it legally. It was incredibly satisfying.

Five years later, I got married, and his name was even better than the one I made up when I changed it the first time.

Seconding what the anon above me said :)

But if you really can't manage to like that name, what about giving the baby a nickname you (and hopefully him too) will like?

angsting over the fact that your celebrity crush doesn't even know your existence all day isn't really a good sign is it?

Oh darling, no, it's really not a good sign, not at all.

Try to get your grip back on reality: go out with friends, family, interact with actual people, get away from your computer (thus photos/news of your celebrity crush). You need to get back on earth.

oh then that means that I have got nothing left in my life. My (very few) online friends, fanfics that cheer me up when I am feeling down, etc, etc. The internet is practically the only thing that connects me to the world. And without it, I am nothing. Yeah I am pretty fucked right now. Plus this ridiculous crush I've developed over the past few months. It's getting out of my hand. Really. fuck.

AYRT

*hug* Calm down, maybe it's not as bad as you think... :)

Let's see: I don't know how you usually are around people, do you have a job or go to a friendly school that would make you want to be out with people more? If you like to read maybe even going to the library could help, just to help you be out of the house and away from your computer for a while. If you're not a people person, you could try leaving your computer switched off to do something else around the house (read, write, draw, clean, play, do yoga) and use it only for a limited time, say a couple of hours: limited time could help you decide to use that time to speak with your online friends and read fanfic instead of looking up news and photos of your celebrity crush.

You think any of this could work?

I just flunked my social context of business midterm! Yay. ;_;

I don't even know what that means! Yay! (Sorry if it's important :( )

(Mycroft's so unimpressed he gave me a blank captcha)

Social context of business: How can I make people do things for the least amount of money while making other people want to pay the most amount of money for them to do it?

Flunking that shit is a good thing, Anon. It means you still have a soul and don't view people as a commodity.

Also, Mycroft says 'yoursxi 16:39', sounds like he's offering a date?

I'm giving this tv show a shot and I keep seeing the hatred and fights between two minor characters as ~deep sexual frustration. Haven't seen all episodes yet but I know it's highly unlikely they'll actually, magically get together and this ridiculously stupid reason is preventing me from actually enjoying the rest of the show (or even understand if I like the show enough to keep following it, I haven't made up my mind yet after 14 episodes...)
