Sherlock gets turned into a black swan.

John has to jump through the traditional fairy tale hoops to get Sherlock back.

(or maybe Sherlock is just a were-swan, that would be cool too)

Those are some of my favorite fairytales! Definitely seconded!

This is oddly appropriate, given that male swans are aggressive and bite. (And they have something pretty damn close to teeth inside their bill, so it hurts.)

The dawn was always blood and pain. Sherlock had called it transport, had scoffed at death, had brushed off hunger and days without sleep. But every day at dawn his mind became a hollow, and the hollow was filled screams, and every morning it surprised him that it hurt this much again ( ... )

His wings against the water could no longer hold him up, and he splashed uselessly to keep his head afloat, his chest constricted as the ribs broke again and again as they tightened like a corset. He felt the unbearable itch of hair curling out of his scalp, heard his nose click back into joint, parted his lips to gasp at the cold night air ( ... )

Eeee! :D I'm so flattered, thank you. I should really clean up and crosspost my fills here to other comms, but I feel like... I really enjoy just writing on the spur without any long-term commitment to the pieces, if that makes sense? But it's very warming to know that other people think they're worth rec'ing!

I will keep my eyes open for a romantic L/S that catches my fancy ;)

Good god, the shape shifting is horrific: vivid, awesome and awful.

Wow, this was brilliantly amazing! The descriptions were so vivid, so detailed, I've never read anything like it! And the overall arc, my god, truly brilliant! And the characters were completely impeccable, especially Sherlock. Love this!

This was absolutely gorgeously written. I loved your descriptions of the transformations, especially.

But I hope you'll forgive me for saying that if I'd known it involved major character death, I would not have read it. Not tonight at least; I might have braved it in the morning, when I had time to recover.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I wish I could reach over there and give you a big hug of apology for not warning. I don't usually warn outright for character death because of the spoiler issue but I try to put it behind a white-out so people can read it if they want, I think I just forgot here because I wrote and posted this fic in one night very late. I wish I could go back and stop you before you read it :( thank you for letting me know.

My god this is amazing. It reads like a poem, after I read it for the first time, I had to go back and read it aloud a second time. I love the rhythm of the words, the word choice itself; a million things that the English major in me can name but the poetry-reader in me refuses to because it would kill the magic.

Needless to say: fantastic!
