Someone finds out that Male Character A was once a "date for hire" during a particularly bad time in his life. Rather than being a turn off, this is like sex pollen plus oysters plus slinky lingerie plus viagara all mixed together to make Bone Potion or something for Male Character B.
Conversely, Molly was once an escort to pay for university/when she was broke as Hell/etc.

Oh Second SO HARD for Mycroft/Lestrade!! Imagining young and so very pretty Lestrade being a "date for hire" is going to give me very pleasant dreams :)

A/N: Title comes from a Walt Whitman poem. Slight references to both 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl' and 'Doctor Who'. Hopefully an enjoyable read - sorry for no Mycroft/Lestrade - my poor mind only seems to come up with S/J! Hope for multiple fills - 'cause I agree Lestrade would be a hottie as a 'date for hire'.
John rubbed at both his ears.
He must have misheard that. What Sherlock had said not moments ago. It wasn’t even possible. They were both currently standing in the rather plush flat of one recently deceased Angelina Thatcher. She was the third in a line of victims who, like the others (Sherlock using his brilliant reasoning had concluded) was a prostitute

John opened his mouth and then closed it. It was hard to believe that not only had Sherlock once needed a job that paid him but that that job had been as a-as a…companion. John chose to settle on companion. It sounded less…sexual. Though it did throw one of his favorite television show’s concepts into a whole new light. Still...he could deal far more easily with the idea of a companion than with a prostitute

I should learn to check back before replying lol! This is brilliant. :) I love the characterization and how blase Sherlock is about being a prostitute.

It wasn’t until they were at a records office that John brought the issue up again. Both the number and address Sherlock had uncovered had (so far) proven to be dead leads. The number was disconnected and the address led to a vacant flat. But the flat had to have some records of previous lodgers and, as such, they both found themselves in a records office waiting for the harridan who ran the place to provide them with some information.
Since they were waiting, John found his mind drifting back to earlier and couldn’t help himself, “So, your clients were male.”
Sherlock looked at John, blinked once (almost owlishly) then exhaled loudly, “Yes.”
“You’re gay.”
“Not exactly.”
“Not…”
“John, as I told you previously, I consider myself married to my work. I did have previous sexual experience, both with men and women. Most of my…full encounters, however, were with men.”

This last word was said as if it was a particularly vicious curse, Sherlock’s face looking almost as if he had tasted something sour. John was surprised he didn’t give a dramatic shudder while he was at it. John let out a pent up breath, “But you did…you had sex with them

You're gorgeous, as always. "Gigolo" with Richard Gere - one of my favorite movies. And now this issue with my new passion for S/J - it is simply priceless. I look forward to continuing.
Conversely, Molly was once an escort to pay for university/when she was broke as Hell/etc.
Prefer S/J, Mycroft/Lestrade or Molly/Lestrade
