Thanks for your review! I'm glad I managed to convey some of dog!John's confusion. It's tragic in a way, because he's so honest and loyal in a world that crushes honest and loyal men. Which is why it's a good thing that there are men like Mycroft to look out for him.

So, I read this in public which turned out to be a mistake as by the end I was holding back tears. This was amazing, simply beautiful, and I adored it. Thanks so much for sharing <3

Thanks! I meant for this to be a sad piece because John will never get what he truly wants. But he is loved in the end, and sometimes that is enough.

I kind of wondered what one could possibly do with the prompt, besides some crack fill. Then you went and wrote something sweet and gorgeous and almost tragic. I love it.
