John/Lestrade friendship.

That kind of 'best friend' behaviour that you tend to only see shown between two women, with the complete lack of personal space, the curling up together on the sofa, the proper hugs when greeting or leaving, etc etc.

No slash please, or at least not between those two. I'm just in the mood for some proper friendship fluff.

I've never experienced that kind of friendship in my entire life, though I'm not surprised. Seconding because non-sexual cuddling is underrepresented in general.

Braiding each other's hair! Or at least Sherlock's. Maybe brushing each other's hair?

Just me who thinks this type of close friendship would be really odd to see between two heterosexual blokes? Especially ones who're in their late 30s/40s and would have been brought up at a time when they'd've been encouraged to be 'manly' men. Not hating on the prompt or anything, just saying it's the kind of thing that just seems too girly for John and Lestrade to be doing. Men like beer, some sport and to call their best mate a bastard because he's just pied the last of the crisps.

Stereotypical men. Not all men. I have two hetero male friends who are so handsy with each other it makes people who don't know them wonder. They're both just very tactile straight guys who happen to also like messing with people's presumptions.

You should see them do Rocky and Franknfurter. It's like RHPS porn.

I know men of that age group who actually act like that. One is divorced/pining and the other is happily married. The wife of the latter finds it terribly amusing, although it apparently led to interesting times when she was ill and the two had to travel out of state together.

Among the things they do is ordering a single dish with the intention of splitting it and eating it off of the same plate.

They do sometimes still insist on trying to act like manly men, but everyone else knows better.

This...this is probably one of the most adorable fills on here. Just...EVERYTHING is perfect. John as a ninja. Lestrade's wife loving John because of their fierce love of rugby. This bit, which made me laugh like a nutter: Sherlock says that Lestrade is the least incompetent idiot at New Scotland Yard. Which, from him, was like standing outside Lestrade's window while holding a boombox over his head.

THANK YOU FOR THIS. =DDD

This.

Just...

It is snowy where I am, and I think the whole house just jumped five degrees (farenheit) from the effect that this fic had on my heart...and ovaries. Hey, I love nonsexual nonromantic cuddling and mistaken-for-married best friends. And also see quite a lot but never enough of it in real life.
