“Sherlock--!” But Lestrade was speaking to empty space. It was like talking to a bloody brick wall, trying to make Sherlock acknowledge that he couldn't just run off on his own, tracking down the details of a case. What was unnerving was the ease with which Sherlock could collect evidence without anything so commonplace as a warrant, or an official police presence-- well, except for the badges he kept taking from Lestrade's pockets. Lestrade couldn't fathom what had made the man choose this particular hobby, but the longer he knew Sherlock, the more thankful he was that the man had come down on the right side of the law. Mostly.

The last thing he'd said had been, “He's not far off.” Lestrade jogged after him. “Sherlock!” he called. He turned the corner of the alley and-- found himself looking at a gun barrel ( ... )

OP here.

*flails*

This is so gorgeous, I can't even...

Sherlock is such a BAMF here (and Lestrade's not short on the BAMF department, either). I love how Lestrade instantly trusts Sherlock (and has a healthy awe for what he's just done for him, and rightly so), how Lestrade defends Sherlock to Gregson and company, and, most especially, Sherlock's parting comment (which speaks volumes and volumes). I held my breath throughout this adrenaline-pumping sequence. It's a joy to see Sherlock in action like this.

This entire fic is absolutely wonderful. So very far above my highest hopes. Your characterizations are stunning, and I'm going to be haunted by this story (in the very best way) for a long, long time. Thank you, dear Anon.

*huge, grateful hugs*

Amazing fill, one of my favourites in a long time. Fantastic characterisation, and it fits perfectly into the BBC!canon.

I can't even recite a particular part back to you, it's all seamless. Thank you for writing this <3

I honestly didn't want to read this when it was recommended to me, but now?

Yeah, I might have to read this again.

Lovely combination of anecdotes you've given us, furthering why Lestrade and Sherlock just kinda work. I've never been so happy to be disproved! :D

I cannot believe I'm just now finding this magnificence. It's deliciously in-character and is now going in my personal head-canon. *nods*

Sherlock had not only saved his life, but made it considerably less complicated for the foreseeable future.
Awww - BAMF!Sherlock FTW!

I was onwards throughout thismfic, desperate to see where it was going! Absolutely fascinating as both a character study of Lestrade and especially of Sherlock but also as a well plotted, action packed story!
