Emotional connection to umbrella

Mycroft's umbrella is NOT a weapon, it doesn't contain usb stick with classified infromation, isn't alive, AI, or anything like that. Mycroft's umbrella is just something he is emotially connected to. Maybe a token of affection from someone? Present from a lover? A symbol of Being the British Goverment, given to him, when his worth was recognized, by the previous British Goverment? A connection to some precious memory?
Most people who meet Mycroft more than once realise that he always has his umbrella. Even if you go to his office, there it is, in the umbrella stand by the door. Some people think nothing of it, many businessmen carry umbrellas, partly because it completes the polished, prepared look, but mostly because this is Britain, and it's more likely to rain than not.
Others, who know Mycroft a little better and are on the cusp of knowing how much of the government is under his control, regard it with a deep suspicion and hypothesise that within it is a blade sharp enough to run you through without you feeling it.
There are no rumours. Nothing so vulgar, and besides which, if there were rumours Mycroft might get to hear of them and that would be bad, but there are the faintest whispers that the umbrella is not a sword, or anything of the kind, but that Mycroft could kill you with it just the same
( ... )
S'okay, glad you like it, sorry it wasn't longer but my brain won't go into gear for anything bigger than a drabble at present. TBH I just saw your prompt and went 'Of course Daddy Holmes gave it to him. It makes so much sense.' and then I had to write it. :)
Captcha Mycroft seems to know what year I was born. He's getting more worrying with every comment.

Work with it!
