You never lose by loving. You always lose by holding back. Mycroft let out a breath when the familiar form of Lestrade walked across the screen in front of him. He was keeping half an eye on Sherlock's latest case - the perpetrator was particularly violent, it seemed and so he wanted to watch him as closely as possible. this is delightful so far---the beautiful image of mycroft wistfully watching the cctv footage will stay with me for a while.
you took a different approach than i was expecting--that they both feel it but it hasn't been discussed and decided that they should stay apart, that mycroft's hesitation and his concern have kept him from even acknowledging it. i love it, and particularly commend you on how mycroft too learned lessons from The Pool.
Lestrade's curiosity and mental reprimands were lovely, and i am really, really, really looking forward to more. And learning just how much S & J have each observed. ;) Thanks so much for writing!
