OP here: Even with the lack of H/C, I loved it. You are a fantastic writer, and I can't wait for you deanon so I can shower you with praise as you so deserve. So many kudos. My first time ever getting fills! Whee!

Evidently I'm chronically unable to sit on finished fics, so here's a drive-by AO3 link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/591163. The ending felt incomplete to me as it is, and my beta agreed; so a scene has been added, hopefully making it better? Thank you, everyone, this has been interesting.
