John stares at his laptop screen. Blank whiteness stares accusingly back. It's not like he doesn't do this on a regular basis, it's just - it's just not usually on such a tight schedule, as the small flickering video stream in the top corner of his screen reminds him, and more importantly he usually doesn't have to make anything up. John's fairly secure in the conviction that he's no writer. He doesn't writeanything, he just puts down what happened in, well, words. It's completely different ( ... )

John doesn't sit around once the battle's won; he's not interested in seeing the man scurry out. He logs out absently and then reaches for his coat. Sherlock had clearly been enjoying himself. Well, now it was his turn. A taxi waiting outside, and for once he was going to be the one pulling up on the curb to take probably-not-Anthea for a little drive. Mycroft had made sure she'd had time to run and somewhere to run to, even if he hadn't been able to do the same for himself. And now John gets to be the one to break the news; her boss is ok, her boss is safe, and he wants her back ( ... )

I love this story so much. So glad you came back to finish it, and in such fabulous style. (I'm kind of sad we didn't get to see that scene between John and probably-not-Anthea, though...) Your Mycroft is wonderful, and I adore all the flashbacks. ♥

Dear anon, thank you for writing this fic. All your characters seem really in-character for me, if that's not redundant, but your Mycroft especially is amazing: a great balance between self-sacrificing and omniscient. And the brother's relationship was fleshed out in a believable way that I wish it were in the series.

Incidentally, do you have any other fills on the meme you can point me to? I'd love read anything else you might've done, especially any Mycroft-centric fills. Enjoyed this immensely!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like Mycroft's characterisation, he's so hard to pin down, being as he is a sort of ultra-awesome ascended cameo. And I'm such a sucker for the Holmes' brotherly ties that's why I loved this prompt! :D

I'm really sorry, but this is my first Sherlock fic :( no others to show you. I'm hoping to try and fill a Firefly-au prompt soon, though. If you like that sort of thing. ♥

This story is perfect and everything I hoped the prompt would be. The italicized sections were wonderful - such lovely and heartbreaking insights into the Sherlock-Mycroft relationship, and you say things so beautifully.

Thank you so much! This is such a lovely comment <3 I'm glad you like the Sherlock-Mycroft flashbacks... it's so hard to balance their combatative stand-offishness and yet the ridic amount of ~love you can see in their unguarded moments (especially from Mycroft) in the show

This is, bar none, one of the best Sherlock/Mycroft centric fics I've ever read. So well done. :)
