John and Sherlock meet when Moriarty screws up by making BAMF!John the FIRST pip.

John and Sherlock don't meet at Barts. The meet when Moriarty picks a sad, tiny, down and out invalided army doctor for the first pip in his game with Sherlock. Only problem for Moriarty is that John is a total BAMF, and during Moriarty's phone call to Sherlock (using John to speak for him of course) John manages to get out of view of Moran's sniper shot, warn away any innocent bystanders, and then proceeds to remove the bomb vest and disable it.

Moriarty and Moran are all "What. The. Fuck?" and Sherlock is all "Well hello there, fascinating little man. Join me in kicking this consulting criminal's arse, won't you?" Gen or if any pairings then Sherlock/John please.

If you want to set up Moriarty's creepiness by having the first pip or two go according to his plan and make John the second or third pip instead then that's cool. I just want Sherlock asking for John's help with the rest of Moriarty's game and John being more than glad to help catch the madman who took him hostage.

TL;DR Moriarty makes John the first pip. BAMF!John

This is great so far. I love John in this already and it's just begun.

This does little to rattle John - he too well knows the weight of the crosshairs.

John hasn't noticed even a twinge after 90 minutes of standing still. This and the crosshairs line--swooning over here, author. BAMF!John gets me every time.

Is this a one-shot or a series, though? Just so I know whether or not we should be expecting more.

OMG, this is fantastic! I can't wait for the next update. I love that John is keeping his calm but that you still make it realistic, having his voice break at the end.

Of course, I'm really looking forward to seeing how John gets out of sight/escapes!

Three hours and 25 minutes have ticked by and John has come up with very little in the way of a plan. The sniper could be anywhere, though most likely in front, in Trafalgar Square. John can't rule out the Column even though there's no way to get to the top - these people clearly don't work within regular rules

First thing he needs is a large group that he can blend in to until he's safely out of range of the sniper. Then he can divest himself of the explosives and alert someone that a crazy person is kidnapping people and strapping bombs to them.

This is John exactly - completely matter-of-fact about being a total BAMF. I'm loving this!
