Inspired by one of the recent fills:

England's well-being has a direct correlation to Mycroft's diet. Stress-eating is a sure sign of a political crisis somewhere.

When Sherlock's poking fun at Mycroft's weight, it's actually code to see if there's anything wrong with the country.

OP here:

Poor man. What a dilemma: the job isn't ideal for Mycroft, but Mycroft is ideal for the job. 'Government' is probably far from the best occupation for a stress-eater. No wonder he's motivated to do well (though maybe that's a bit mean of me D:).

Now I'm a little sad that this kind of relationship can't/won't exist between them in canon, because it's adorable. Yay for sibling!code and hidden worry!

I agree with you on the canon relationship. I really wish they would have been able to have something--perhaps not like this, but something.

I'm holding out hope that in the next series, Mycroft says "Gregory" for any reason and that the Holmes brothers actually have a reconciliation or something. Maybe they were in on Sherlock's scheme together.
