John finds out about Sherlock lying to him about Irene's second death. He feels betrayed and, after compromising all of his other relationships to aid his 'grieving' friend, decides to stop caring. He sets himself on a destructive path where he goes out every night, drinks, and bring men and women back to the flat with him and has loud sex.
It's up to the filler how Sherlock takes this. I just think that the final scene between them in Scandal was so loaded with both of them lying to each other for different reasons (John to protect Sherlock, Sherlock to protect Irene, out of spite--not sure). I'd just like to see the fallout from that, particularly in regards to how it affects John.
Not sure how long this will be yet. But I really felt like I needed to fill it. This was my thoughts exactly and I took liberty with Mycroft in this one. This is just a first chapter/part. I think it's going to be about 3-4 parts. But it depends on how everything works out. It focuses less on the sex and more on John's mental state...I hope that's alright...John sat in the chair nerves in the pit of his stomach, but otherwise no visible signs of distress. He normaly wasn't nervous during his meetings with Mycroft--they had become somewhat akin to friends during the past year or so. After all, Mycroft was one of the only people who truly knew how difficult Sherlock could be

John nodded, used to those types of questions. However, with Mycroft it was less condescending and more clarification that they were both on the same page. "Okay. So you had me tell Sherlock a lie so then it would be up to him whether to learn the full details of her death. Instead of one of us forcing him to listen to something he wouldn't want to believe."
"Or knew to be false," Mycroft added.
John's eyes narrowed. "Mycroft. You are talking in circles." It would take Sherlock Holmes to fool me. He would not think of that...possibility

John stood up and whirled around, hitting his wrist on Mycroft's desk. "Apparently he doesn't think so." He stormed out to the door. He didn't care if Mycroft followed him or not. He just needed to get out of there

Lovely so far. When I saw the end of the episode, I just couldn't process the fact that Sherlock was hiding something so big from John. I agree with you here that Sherlock, who could read John so well, would be able to suss out the truth and know why John was lying to him and accept it. Consequently, he would also know that his friend would do everything to help him. So for Sherlock to still keep the secret despite knowing how much fall-out of his supposed grieving would cost John, it really made me hurt inside.
I hope you continue this, there's really no such thing as too many Hurt!John, Guilty!Sherlock and Concerned!Mycroft fics out there.
This is lovely and the exact kind of introspection I was looking for. I just can't wrap my head around why Sherlock would do that to John--it seemed so out of character and inconsiderate.

This. I hated the way that was handled. It felt really wrong somehow.
