I've read a lot of stories - Fall related and not - where Sherlock does absolutely awful things to John and John just forgives him.  There is a time and place for those fics, but I really, really need to read stories where Sherlock is (at least eventually) sorry for his awful behavior and has to EARN John's trust back.  I do prefer happy endings

If you're still looking... the "Trying to Find the In-Between" series by NoStraightLine on ao3 (https://archiveofourown.org/series/39652) has great character arcs for both John and Sherlock, with a couple of the fics in the series addressing the post-Fall consequences where John is 'not happy' and Sherlock has to pause and take stock of what he's done.
