Some of you may know that my dad's side of the family is from Austria. So I've been wearing dirndls occasionally ever since I was a little girl. ( That's fine, dirndls are cute on little girls. )
Oh, man. I think what you'll have to do is, quickly re-knit it into something ... wearable. Then when your relatives see it you can say, oh it came like this! i cant knit at all! but you made it so well, it's my favourite thing ever! Maybe... The dirndls are cute though. I nearly wore my traditional skirt to work today.
I actually thought about re-knitting it. But the colour looks horrible on me (it's not so yellow in real-life, it's more of a light cream colour), so I think my plan is to keep it for a while in case any of my relatives want to see it, and then re-knit it into a baby set of some sort - sweater, hat and booties. Cause it's a very nice, soft yarn, and would be perfect for a baby. Not so much for an adult. ESPECIALLY with the puffy sleeves...
No, I'm part Austrian. My grandmother on my dad's side was from there. I've only been to Austria twice, though, which kinda sucks, and my german is awful (I understand a lot. But I have the worst time speaking it!). And to make things worse, when I go visit my relatives in Austria (or when they come here), I don't understand them because they speak in some weird local dialect so my school german is no use!
Þessi peysa var svo brjálæðislega fyndin (sérstaklega svona í lokin á smekklegu myndaröðinni) að ég hló upphátt inná lesstofu. En þetta er nottla mjög praktísk flík, notar hana þegar þú ferð út í dirndlinu þínu. Niður í bæ á 17. júní og svona. Ekki geturðu notað neina af jökkunum þínum utan yfir svaka ermarnar?
Æ, ég er ennþá hlæjandi. En Auður, austurísk??? Voðalega veit ég ekki neitt! til hamingju með að eig ekki lengur jafn fáfróða vinkonu! ;D
