(no subject)
Some of you may know that my dad's side of the family is from Austria. So I've been wearing dirndls occasionally ever since I was a little girl.
When I was 18, I acquired an "adult" dirndl, which was very exciting.
Anyway, I like dirndls cause I think they're cute, although not very practical to wear as an adult in Iceland, except maybe to Oktoberfest. For the longest time, I was the only one of us cousins who had my own adult-size dirndl (I'm the oldest girl, so when I was 18 the rest of them were still little). There's plenty of kid-sized ones that get passed to whoever they fit, but only the one adult-sized. Until very recently, when my relatives in Austria got together and decided to make dirndls for all of them. We just got our package today, and I wasn't really expecting anything... well, I got a BIG surprise!
... at least the sleeves are big!
Seriously. What on earth IS that?? And WHEN would I wear it?
The sad thing is, it's made out of REALLY nice, warm yarn. Maybe I can wear it to a costume party or something...?
