Really like your story and it shows the same as the episode "Upper West Side Story" that Neal and Mozzie can't even stop themselves.

I mean, Mozzie telling Neal to forge Evan's writing, I wanted to scream. Yes, it was funny but it was also tragic that as brilliant as they are they just don't see the "no breaking law" way.

However, I think Neal really enjoyed being a teacher.

Yes, I'd say that Neal definitely enjoyed being a teacher.
And I had a bit of a problem with Neal and Mozzie interfering for Evan like this as well. They could have found a different way to help him get Chloe - but they had to go behind his back -umm, why?
Thank you for your review!

This reads so in character and realistic. Nice of June to act as a sounding board and for Cindy and Samatha to give Neal his taste of family life. Also good that Moz isn't giving the any (ill) advice

Nicely done - I like that your Neal realizes that Peter would have a hard time with the idea of Neal being rewarded for his bad choices (to be honest I'm kind of with Peter on this one). I like that your Neal isn't trying to make excuses but is genuinely looking for a way to apologize.

Well, I think that part of the reason for the commutation hearing is Neal's great work for the FBI - while his methods are sometime questionable, he has done a lot of good. But the ultimate reason for the hearing is the treasure fiasco - and I don't think that Neal should be rewarded for that either. I wouldn't want him in prison for it - but commutating his sentence is the other extreme. While plot-wise, I kind of like the idea, I'm not sure if I'd like to see it happen IRL.
And I think for once, Neal is genuinely sorry - and I really wanted to show that in this story.
Thank you for your beautiful review!

PS: Great userpick!

Awww, that was sweet. :) I like Neal's earnestness in wanting to make amends and win Peter back, and I felt that you did justice to both their viewpoints here, with no one coming off as the bad guy.

Found this via the episode-tag index. This is really sweet and fits into canon perfectly. I love that the coffee and tickets are a con but not the way we thought at the beginning of Upper West Side Story (which really would have been way too obvious for Neal *g*) but as a way to get Peter to tell him what he can do to make it up to him.
I also really like the ending, with Neal realizing that Peter is willing to give him yet another chance to prove to him that he won't let him down again.

Thank you for your beautiful comment, and I’m glad you think this fits the canon!

Neal is very intelligent - but the coffee and tickets are so obvious, I simply couldn’t imagine that Neal would think he could get back on Peter’s good side this way; not after Elizabeth being kidnapped. But if he used them to con Peter into telling him what he really wants from him - that would make sense, and I can see Neal doing just that.

And I’m glad that you liked the ending!
