How Do You Un-Call 911?

Jul 31, 2010 23:26

Well, I called the cops on my new neighbors about an hour ago.  There was a woman screaming, "let go of me" and a man shouting and then more shouting and I called 911.  Lysy said that she saw a man holding his hand over a womans mouth, and claiming she was drunk.  After getting off the phone, I got a flashlight and went out to the end of my ( Read more... )

you don't un-call. you do exactly what you did. i suppose you could have called them back and let them know that the victim took off and thus, may not be available for the intended rescue. yet i still think it's good to have done it exactly as you did. now the cops know to look out for a panicked lady on foot on a dark road. now they have a heads-up that she may be at higher risk if the guy knows cops are involved. i'm guessing they have all sorts of protocols about that, so they'd figure something out if they find her.

i'm sorry you experienced this. and i'm sorry she is/was/and might be hurt. i'm sorry there are people who hurt other people. yet i'm glad there are people who try to rescue people, even unwilling-to-be-rescued people.

whether or not she gets help, resources, escape, i'm happier knowing there are people working to make a positive difference. hugs and thank you.

I don't know who was the victim here. Maybe she was drunk. Maybe they both were. What I heard from the fight was that it was somehow over $20 and pizza and "you made me promise to never leave you" and "you left me to die". All this from him, as his voice really carries. So he's a manipulative bastard, and she sounds like a drama queen. I'm tempted to say they could deserve each other, but at least, they push each others buttons really well.

It all does remind me to be grateful for my relatively rational relationship. (Alliteration, just one of my many talents!)

Still sad about the flashlight, though.

I'm sure you will never see that flashlight again. I think you did exactly the right thing, though.

Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit. Today we found my flashlight and a note on our front step. The note said, "Thanks, We are okay!" and had a little smiley face on it. I rather doubt the depth of the okay-ness, because of all the crap I heard them spewing the other night, but then again, I can hold a grudge 'til it dies of old age. I would never, ever forget some of that bile.

Glad to see the flashlight again.
