Bekah was at Renz’s house again; her best friend was helping her with her homework.
Renz was hungry, he ruffled her hair, “I’ll go get some snacks.”
Bekah smiled, “Thanks…”
Renz got up and he could barely stand. His father’s words about what to expect when he would change rang in his ears. His eyes filled with worry as he crumbled to the ground.
Bekah turned at the sound, she was immediately worried. She knelt beside him, “Renz, please be okay…”
Renz could hear her heart beating loudly in his ears, he could smell her blood. He was terrified, he didn’t want to hurt her…not Bekah. Why did this have to happen now? Before he could stop himself she was in his arms and his fangs were buried into her neck.
Bekah was scared, Renz was acting strangely. He bit her, why?
Renz felt her go limp in his arms and he finally managed to stop. He laid her on the bed, he started to cry. How could he do that? Bekah was his best friend…
That evening…
Renz managed to tell his dad what happened, they told Bekah’s parents she had fallen asleep and would be home later.
Bekah woke up slowly, she felt so weird. She remembered what happened and looked around for Renz.
Renz knew she was awake and stayed far away, “Are you okay…”
Bekah nodded, still scared, “Why did you do that…”
Renz wrapped his arms tighter around his knees, “I’m…a vampire Bekah. I didn’t mean to…I tried to stop. I couldn’t. No matter what I’ll protect you.”He’d look after Bekah forever, no matter what.
A week later…
Renz’s application to Johnny’s was finally accepted so his dad rented him and Bekah an apartment just outside Tokyo.
Bekah finished unpacking her things and staggered into the kitchen, “Renz…”
Renz barely glimpsed fangs before she fainted, Bekah a vampire? Impossible…
