fatty

Now that I definitely have a bump (not a baby-looking bump, just a she's-eating-too-much-sugar-and-is-a-fatty bump), I'm desperate for cute bump-hiding clothes. I searched all weekend and failed. Anything cute also costs a million dollars, and I'm a frugal wench. Ideas?

This is the first dress I've found that I'd actually spend real money on. Isn' ( Read more... )

DUDE, I went to Macy's because I actually had a gift card there and found nothing. I think maybe I'm too picky? I don't know! This weekend I'l try harder.

Aaand YES! well, crap, I actually emailed you about it, I thought. He was all over the chinese cooking class but then we talked more about it and we kinda think the cost is prohibitive right now. we're trying to be SO frugal and $100 for a night out seems much. We were thinking it would be more cost effective and perhaps fun to have you guys over, if you're willing, for some co-dinner-cooking and maybe Xbox playing, or Wii if you wanna bring it? What do you think? Is that super lame?

Actually, that sounds great! We're trying to be more thrifty about eating out too, after splurging at Zoot for dinner this weekend, so cooking dinner would be both fun and economical :) Are you guys free on weekday nights, or only on weekends?

Hmm, some more affordable shopping ideas are SoLa, Buffalo Exchange, and Ross. Or you could check out other Macy's stores and see if their selection is better. If there were an H&M location here, that would be the place to go. Happy shopping!

YAY!! Dude, I'm jealous about your Zoot meal! You did the tasting menu! That's nuts! I've always wanted to go there, since Wink is one of my favorite places in austin.

We are only free on weekends, I'm afraid. (Ali's work schedule is hellish. blech.) Would any weekend night work for you two?

YES, buffalo and ross are on my list, fo shizzle, and even Kohl's, probably. Oooh if only austin had an H&M!

I would love to shop with you! Ping me when you go? I hit Forever 21 yesterday and found nothing, but I went a couple weeks ago and found a shirt and a dress. I'l keep checking! I love that store so much!

Target has some cute maternity clothes that I loved and wished I was preggers so I could wear them.

All those empire waist type shirts might work. They seem really popular now. I think it's because so many celebrities are/have been preggers.

Target seems to be calling them babydoll tops.

Here's something like it at Anthropologie. Incidentally, I picked up a couple of tops (here and here) that would be great for concealing a bump in the sale room at Anthropologie a couple of weeks ago. I don't see them on the web site. I got this dress there, too, which would totally do the trick. It's a bit of a splurge though, imo, but you could wear it after the pregnancy, too.

Target also has a category called baby doll dresses. Most were a little juvenile looking, but I liked this one.

Banana Republic's having a sale...

Just going to agree with the others who recommended Ross. 95% of my maternity clothes came from that store this time around. I've had no luck with Target, but I think that's just because ours has a pathetic in-store maternity section. They seem to have much cuter things online. And FWIW, even the brand-name maternity clothes with the higher price tags are crap, in general, and not worth the money, so try not to waste it on anything you don't absolutely have to have. You'll want to save for cute (very comfortable) shoes, anyway. ;-)

I'm defnitely going to hit Ross this weekend. I am a very frugal shopper and I don't spend lots of money on clothes even if I think I'll wear them for YEARS, let alone a time when they're just for a few months. So, screw a bunch of those designer places! Seriously, 182$ for a nice maternity shirt? Whatever!

Okay, I did just spend that $64 on the dress, but it's because I fell in True Love and figured that's not too obscene. Plus I can wear it when not-pregnant. I hope.

Aand yes, my feet are *already* hurting. And reading your blog about pelvis pain has me scared. This pregnancy thing kinda hurts! Though I am getting a 2hr massage every 2 weeks, which helps.. I highly recommend it! :)
