I just got back from taking my MTTCs (Michigan Tests for Teacher Certification)... and I have never been so afraid of failure in my life

The English test was fairly balanced in my opinion. It had passages from all types of authors, and there were questions that connected to the paradigm we're being instructed in.
The History test was like taking the History portion of the SATs or ACTs, or something. The only parts that had to do with teaching were "which graph better represents this historical data?" sorts of questions. Also, one of the test questions poked fun at Pres. Bush, referencing the War in Iraq. I was so flustered I don't remember the question, but it was shocking.
As far as state curriculum is concerned, the high school curriculum I've reviewed focuses on modern American History and Greek history. VERY VERY VERY little eastern hemisphere history, very little about anchient history-- so perhaps this test demonstrates a desire for a change in focus?

I'm sure you'll do fine. I think you only have to get about 60% right to pass...yes...sixty percent makes us highly qualified ;).
Let me know how you do...I'll be rooting for you.
