It took a while, but the government set up Eden's bank account. She's not looking forward to doing the same thing with Anna, so she hasn't suggested it yet

"I know this great ice cream place down a few streets that's open pretty regularly," Anna offers. "Is ice cream replenishing enough for you?"

Dreamer has cash. Don't ask how or why. She has her little tricks, okay?

"...it's also a really small lamb, okay?"

She strokes Eden's shoulder with absent fingers as she laughs.

"Fine, I guess it's up to me to be the mature one and stop arguing about hypothetical dwarf lambs," Eden says, with a fantastic role of her eyes.

The shoulder being stroked is nudged in a friendly way into Dreamer's own.

She grins. "This whole thing started as an assessment of your cuteness, so it's hardly gracious of you to be arguing it in the first place."

[carefulwishes]

"You added in the lamb - that's the part that messed everything up - and damnit, I just told myself I wasn't arguing about this, didn't I?"

Eden musingly eats some of her frozen yogurt.

"It's okay. I like you when you're pedantic."

Really, she likes her all the time, thinks Dreamer around a bite of banana.

"You can take the girl out of college...."

Eden finds a seat and looks around, still making a mental list. They've got Shay's car for a little while longer.

They need a fridge. She'll have to pay movers. This card only has two thousand a month.

"Oh, trust me, you can take college out of the girl. A couple decades of the Crescent cured me of any tendency to spontaneous intellectualism."

And replaced it with the unconscious habit of Being Helpful To People. Also, a tendency to regard bloodstains as minor, familiar inconveniences.

"Well, I'm not dead yet," Eden remarks with a wry smile.

[downsidedarling]

"Not for a damn long while if I've got any say in the matter," returns Anna cheerfully. "I like you too much to let you go that easy."

[carefulwishes]

"I'm not exactly popular with some people back at the Cooper house, but I don't think anyone's out to kill me yet." Pause. "Actually, you might want to watch out for girls that can manipulate light energy. Just to make sure."

Eden should probably let Anna in on some of her backstory. They are roomies, after all.

"The hell's wrong with the people back at the Cooper house?"

Because anyone with whom Eden is not popular obviously has some kind of deep psychological issue.

Anna lives (well, not exactly) in a very black-and-white world.

[carefulwishes]

"Your guess is as good as mine."

Okay, maybe Eden isn't quite ready to divulge everything yet. Hey, look, frozen yogurt! Mmmm.

Banana splits are also, for the record, mmmm-worthy.

"Well, you're plenty popular with me, for what it's worth."

And yes. That's a flirtatious grin, that is. Dreamer's full of those.

Eden's returning smile is friendly, but not quite mischeivous enough to be termed flirtatious.

It slowly disappears as she glances around. "The fact that two people at that house look like a serial killer from my world doesn't help much," she admits, once she determines no one's close enough to listen in.

"Look like as in could be mistaken for at a glance, or look like as in twins?"
