Steph's coming back down towards the Cooper farm from Smallville, on foot. It's a hot day and she's flushed and sweaty from the run, but she's grinning

Tom has been making a bit of a name for himself too. 'The British guy that thinks he can buy trousers for five dollars' or 'the guy who got kicked out of the local bar for fighting'. It's not a good name.
Tom, too, is also on the road. He's got his pack, linen shirt, trousers and newsboy cap on. He stole a T-shirt, hidden safely in his pack, but doesn't feel like wearing it until he's safely on house grounds.
He notices Steph. He's seen her, once or twice, though he's not at the house as much as he used to be. He dips his head to her as he continues on the road - they're walking in the same direction after all.
Tom is mildly surprised - it's been a while since his appearance provoked cheerfulness. He's happy to shake her hand, though, and smile pleasantly at her.
As pleasant as a guy who doesn't bathe and has a day old beard and yellow teeth can smile.
"Lovely to make your 'quaintance, lass. I'm Tom Therin."
But if she's happy to see everyone, there's so much less risk that someone will turn out to be tetchy and superpowered and kick her ass. Plus ... people. People are cool.
She files Tom's scruff and dirt under 'interesting personal quirks' and grins at him.
"Sure is. I've met more people in a week on this world than I have in nearly a year on my last one. It's way awesome."
"It is you!" Steph squeals, doubt vanishing. "Mel! Oh my God I am so glad to see you oh God how awesome is having space but I think this might be my world and oh my God Mel it's really you!"
By the end of this -- well, it's not really a sentence, it's more a babble of words that are sort of vaguely linked -- space and Slayer permitting, Mel will be glomped to within an inch of her life.

"Hi! I've totally seen you around, but I never managed to talk to you yet. I'm Steph!"
She sticks out a hand for him to shake, cheerfully.

She registers Steph, but doesn't register her. After recognition, she just dismisses her as another version of Steph like the other version of Sokka.

At least, up until Mel doesn't acknowledge her. Then she realises there are other options, and frowns, worried.
She lifts her hand for a cautious wave anyway. "Hi?"

"You're Steph, right?"
