Satoshi blinked, wondering where was the cat that was rubbing against his leg moments ago had gone. He held the dish of cat food in his hand and looked around. When he was preparing the dinner for the night, the cat had come up, purring to him. Figuring that she was probably was hungry, he went to prepare the food while the cat rubbed against his leg. Now she was gone though.

Pausing, Satoshi turned towards the door when he thought he had a purr coming from outside. How did the cat leave the apartment?

He shook his head and made sure the stove wasn't turned on before grabbing Kurosaki's black jacket that was lying around. The weather was getting cooler and his own jacket had been too far away.

When he opened the door and peeked outside, Satoshi was surprised to find the cat strutting towards a girl who seemed to be Kurosaki's next-door neighbour.

The cat, which Kurosaki had not given a name to and that Satoshi has grown used to calling it Neko-chan, didn't like other people that much. She was the type of cat that would not walk up to you willing, forcing you be the one to approach it. For some reason though, she seemed to like Satoshi very much though, so Satoshi became the only one that the cat would walk up willingly to, purring and rubbing against Satoshi to get things his way.

That was why Satoshi was surprised to find Neko-chan going towards the girl. When he noticed the plate of food the girl produced though, he finally understood. The girl probably fed Neko-chan plenty of times while Kurosaki was out before.

Deciding that meeting someone new would be nice, since he felt quite lonely sometimes when Kurosaki was out anyways, he stepped out of the apartment and took a few steps towards the other. "A-ano..."

Tsurara looked up in surprise when she heard an unfamiliar voice. She blinked and wondered why this brunette was wearing Kurosaki's jacket, which wasn't hard to recognize. She had heard a door closing, so did he come from Kurosaki's apartment? She never realized the other had a guest, or that he actually would have someone willing to live with him.

She stood up, leaving the plate of cat food on the floor for the cat, and bowed her head. "Konnichiwa, I'm Yoshikawa Tsurara. Are you...a guest of Kurosaki-san?"

The brunette nodded his head and replied, "Domo." He bowed his head in response. "Tanabe Satoshi desu. You must be one of Kurosaki's tenants ne." He gave her a small smile and crouched down to pet the cat. "You must have really nice to Neko-chan."

"Neko-chan?" He must have meant the cat. "That's its name?" She furrowed her eyebrows together when she thought how familiar the brunette's name seemed to be.

Shaking his head, Satoshi replied, "Kurosaki never gave her a name," a soft smile on his face. "I didn't know what to call her so I just ended up calling her Neko-chan."

A look of understanding appearing in her eyes, Tsurara nodded her head. "Ah sou..." The brunette seems to have a relationship with Kurosaki that was different from everyone else's. Something about how Satoshi mentioned Kurosaki made her feel that he understood Kurosaki better than anyone else.

That's when something clicked in her mind. Tsurara's eyes widened as she looked down at the male that was playing with the cat. This was the akasagi that had cheated Yukari. Didn't Kurosaki send him off to jail? Didn't Kurosaki betray his friend? This was him, wasn't it? Why was he living in Kurosaki's apartment now? There were so many questions in her mind right now, it was a bit dizzying.

Not sure about what to do with the male in front of her, Tsurara just stood there, watching the brunette. She was hesitant about treating him with respect. After all, he did swindle Yukari of her money and feelings. He was different from Kurosaki.

"Is something wrong?"

The question shook Tsurara out of her reverie. She forced a smile and crouched down as well, scratching the cat on the head, gaining herself a purr. "No-nothing. I...I was just thinking about something." Looking at Satoshi, she paused before asking, "Ano...if you don't mind me asking, how did you end up living with Kurosaki-san?"

Noting the expression Satoshi made, he didn't seem to want to answer. Tsurara was just about to press a bit more, wanting to know, when a loud voice shocked both of them.

"Satoshi!"

Snapping his head up, Satoshi was surprised to find Kurosaki rushing up the stairs. He blinked and stood up, tilting his head. "Kurosaki? What's wrong?" He held back to urge to touch that loose piece of hair that ruined an otherwise perfectly slick hairstyle. He noted how Kurosaki was wearing a suit and a pair of glasses and knew the other was out swindling.

When Kurosaki grabbed his shoulders and pushed him behind him, Satoshi felt his eyes widening. "Kurosaki! What are you doing?" He sent a apologetic look towards Tsurara and pouted slightly at Kurosaki.

"Satoshi, grab Neko and go inside." Kurosaki kept on glaring at Tsurara.

Not understanding the situation, Satoshi asked, "Why? I was just talking to Yoshikawa-san here..." His voice died when he saw Kurosaki's face. The other wasn't happy at all. Satoshi swallowed before bending down to pick up the cat and bowed at Tsurara before obediently going back into the apartment.

Heading towards the kitchen, Satoshi gave Neko her plate of food before finishing up the dinner he was preparing. "Ne, Neko-chan, why do you like me?"

Ever since he had promised his sister he would live properly, Satoshi began his life with Kurosaki. Every day was actually very simple. He didn't like to go out and Kurosaki didn't have the time to stay at home to force him to go out anyways. If it wasn't for the need to buy food for meals, he literally didn't step out the door. He would spend his whole day cooped up in the small apartment, reading books or daydreaming or cooking. That was why Tsurara never noticed him until now. He spent most of his times sleeping though. Whenever a nightmare begins, Neko would always wake him up through her purrs.

"Neko-chan, which part of me deserves you liking me?"

Who did he exactly want to ask this question towards?

He sat the last dish on the table and looked at the door, where Kurosaki stood on the other side.

Kurosaki had a lot of secrets. From how he reacted, it made Satoshi wonder if that female had some special meaning to Kurosaki. All his secrets were as heavy as rocks so Satoshi never asked about them. Never asks where he goes, never asks what he's doing. They keep a translucent wall between which can be broken, but what's the advantage to breaking it? That’s why he never asks and Kurosaki never asks about his days much either.

Satoshi really wants to ask Kurosaki why he kept him by his side.

He wanted to hear it for himself, but he couldn't. Then again, it doesn't matter. This kind of relationship might suit them best. At least they're living in the same space right now. That's already enough.

Watching Neko eat, he wondered if their days could continue to be calm like currently. Even he has given up on confessing to Kurosaki his thoughts and feelings, in reality, he was still the him from high school. Even though he has matured in his looks and appears to think maturely as well, but in front of Kurosaki, he was still the Satoshi who only knows how to run after Kurosaki.

That's all he was.

Kurosaki glared at the woman in front of him. "What were you doing to Satoshi?" he spat out, not caring what Tsurara might think now.

Blinking in surprise, Tsurara replied, "I...we were just feeding Neko-chan..."

Growling quietly, Kurosaki said, "Don't call her Neko-chan. That's Satoshi's name for the cat."

"What's wrong with me using that name? Tanabe-kun didn't forbid me to use it." Tsurara was slightly becoming agitated and started to eye Kurosaki with anger. "What's wrong with you? You're so...protective of Tanabe-kun!"

"Because you're going to corrupt him."

"What?" Tsurara looked at Kurosaki like he was crazy. "How and why would I do that?"

Kurosaki snorted. "So you weren't going to feed him a full load of crap about the law and what's right and wrong? You're not going to convince him to stay away from me?"

Tsurara bit on her lip, but before she could stop herself, she already blurted out, "He's an akasagi anyways. You guys are of the same kind!" The moment she finished, she knew she said the wrong thing and slapped her hands in front of her mouth, staring up at Kurosaki.

Narrowing his eyes, Kurosaki said, "What did you say?"

Taking a deep breath, Tsurara swallowed and dropped her arms. "We-well, I'm right though. He's the one that swindled from Yukari, right? I don't get why you are keeping him here. I though you already betrayed him to the police?"

His eyebrow twitching, Kurosaki snarled, "None of your business. Just stay away from Satoshi!" With that he stormed towards his own apartment and slammed the door close.

Tsurara stared after him, her eyes blinking. There was definitely a different sort of relationship between Satoshi and Kurosaki. She could tell from how protective Kurosaki was being. She didn’t understand, but it wasn’t like Kurosaki wanted her to understand either.

From how Satoshi acted around the cat, and how much the cat liked him, Tsurara actually thought that Satoshi might not be a bad person, but of course, she wasn't ready to admit that yet. Sighing, she turned back towards her apartment and looked at Kurosaki's door before going in.

She'll worry about them later.

Kurosaki regretted slamming the door when he noticed the figure sitting in the short hallway behind the door. Why was Satoshi sleeping there again? He put down the briefcase he had been holding and cautiously approached the male. With both arms, he picked up Satoshi, trying not to wake up the other.

"...Ku-Kurosaki?" Satoshi opened his eyes blearily. "What...did you say to Yo-Yoshikawa-san?"

"Don't worry about it. I didn't kill her if that's what you're worried about." He laid down Satoshi on the bed.

"Dinner...on table...eat..." muttered Satoshi.

Placing a hand over Satoshi's eyes, wanting the other to go back to sleep sooner, Kurosaki nodded and replied, "I know. Just go back to sleep."

Too tired to do anything, Satoshi just muttered something incoherent and soon fell back into a deep sleep.

Without moving, Kurosaki just kept on looking at Satoshi's sleeping face, stroking that head of golden-brown hair.

How long will these days last? Realizing that Tsurara and Satoshi have met shook Kurosaki out of his dream. There was a possibility that Satoshi won't be able to stay by his side forever. At the beginning, a mindless question and promise had kept Satoshi by his side. Every day, he would be come home to Satoshi in his space, awake or sleeping and it gave him a feeling of home.

He was scared though.

Around him were too many traps. He can't let Satoshi become involved. Tsurara wasn't the biggest problem. After all, he doubted the girl could convince the police to take Satoshi back. She did help him realize how easy it was for other people to realize that Satoshi was his weakness.

Kurosaki knew Satoshi had plenty of questions, but he also have many reasons to not ask them. How long can he keep his secrets though? It wasn't fair to Satoshi. He can't guarantee how long he can keep the other safe from his enemies.

When did he let himself fall into such a situation? Smiling bitterly at himself, Kurosaki leaned down and pressed a light kiss on Satoshi's lips, leaving a tingling feeling on his lips.

Neko jumped on to the bed softly, her yellow eyes staring back at him.

"Don't let that woman get close to Satoshi, Neko," whispered Kurosaki. "I don't need her taking Satoshi away from me." The cat purred and snuggled close to Satoshi, falling asleep as well.

Continuing stroking Satoshi's hair, Kurosaki didn't want to think anymore. The future will stay unknown until the time comes.

Until then, just let him enjoy his time with Satoshi.

When he was certain that Kurosaki has left the bedside, it was then Satoshi opened his eyes.

He actually didn't fall asleep. Knowing Kurosaki, he knew the other might open up a bit after he's asleep. Now he knew. Kurosaki didn't want Tsurara to take him away. When he first met Tsurara, he thought the name sounded familiar. Now he remembered the name being Yukari's friend. That meant the female knew about his identity.

He didn't want to leave Kurosaki. So he'll stay away from Tsurara as much as possible. He won't let anyone take him away.

His lips still tingling, Satoshi smiled slightly. He actually pretended to fall asleep every now and then, just to get a kiss from Kurosaki, to make sure once again that he wasn't the only one with these feelings.

Snuggling against Neko, he was really starting to feel sleepy now.

Satoshi was being quite a useless person right now, but let him continue be useless. It didn't matter anymore. He just wanted Kurosaki to stay by his side and that he could actually touch, to know that Kurosaki wasn't just a fragment of his dream like in the past. That's all that matters.

The future was too far, so he just wanted to keep the beauty of the present.

Author's Note: Um...here's the promised sequel? //hides// I can't say I love this...but I don't hate it either. Tsurara's character is probably pretty screwed up because this is my first time writing her and I've quite forgotten how she was in the drama? I mean, I've watched the second episode of Kurosagi so many times, but skipping the scenes that don't invovle Kurosaki and Satoshi...so uh...yea...=.= I don't hate her...but...I just wanted to focus on KuroSato? Hehe.

I don't have much to say about this. Except that it's currently 5:52am...and I stayed up to finish this? I mean...I finally got into after having one sentence in the document for the past...like...two months at least? I just had to finish when my muses are still awake and alive.

Other than that...I guess I don't really have much to say?

Comments are love~
