OMG, originality is overrated

I got the lineart for my 7 art projects back from school last night. Things I knew they'd comment on, like my flaws in perspective on my camera drawing and Mamo's lips, were addressed along with other things that were rather lame. They didn't like my Winged Strawberry design for my business card, they said "How does it represent you. Make it show ( Read more... )

It sounds like your instructors think that they're teaching design rather than letting people express themselves. I get that a lot too. I guess they can't help but to try forcing their own opinions onto people.

Which is so totally lame. I just have to bite the bullet and do what they want for one last time and I'm done with them, then I get a certificate that tells me I'm an artist.

Just finished chapter 17. Everyone has been in recovery for a bit. (BTW I found the hole bit of Corles proclaiming his love out-of-character and Dawn fainting highly hilarious XD) (Also eagerly awaiting what Shiras and Re sacrificed to save Thres and Kocha!)

Unfortunately, I've heard art schools are really particular with the style the prefer. I've had several friends who dropped their art major because they wanted to draw a different way - either cartoonish or anime or anything not realistic.

You heard bad things about Shrek 3? Really? I haven't heard anything, but I don't really mind. I'll see it at some point anyways. Pirates 3 was awesome. I loved it. So GO NOW! (and stay to the end of the credits!)

They are like totally contradicting themselves though, cause I see people from their school with different style winning their scholarships... WTF? Meh, I just have to put up with it a little longer, then I'm graduated and can draw what I want.

Well, what I have heard was on a talk show. I don't know of anyone personally that has seen it yet.
