Japan Day 11: Touring Castles in Sock-Feet

I slept in and made a somewhat more leisurely start this morning, since Hikone Castle was less than an hour away by train.

what i'm missing is smell. i have the desire to smell the rice paddies. the smell of the ancient buildings and shops along kyoto streets. the smell of the pines and japanese maples in the rain. and of the food, the bakeries and even the masses of people as they pass by.
