One of the highlights of my autumn 2008 trip to Japan was a weekend spent in Hakone, the beautiful mountain resort near Tokyo. There, my friends and I stayed at a traditional ryokan (bed-and-breakfast), enjoying the hot springs and visiting the famous lake.

I recently realized that I never did get around to uploading all my photos from my trip to Japan a few years back... here are my photos from Tokyo.

We woke up this morning to dark clouds (but slightly warmer temperatures) and had a leisurely breakfast, since none of the museums or palaces are open in Madrid much before 10:00 a.m. (my kind of town!).

( Well, that room held my vote for ugliest room ever for all of fifteen minutes…until I hit the room with three-dimensional porcelain panels covering the wall and ceilings with molded, glazed swags of fruit, cherubs, vines, vases, leaves, etc. etc. )

My longtime friend Pam invited me out to her home in Kentucky for Spring Break, and Southwest Airlines just happened to be having a sale, so here I am!
