A/N: Hey, guys. Yey, I finally got the musical play done. I'm not telling you which boy band the group had chosen for their play until the end. I'm gonna let you guess. Hopefully, you guessed it right. *andhopefullyyourafanlikeme*
BTW, this is my first time writing about shounen ai (boys love). Normally, I wouldn't do it, and this is probably the first and only time I would. I did it cuz the played called for it.
I wrote the play in a script form cuz, well, it's a play (duh, shardaunei). Don't worry. It's not gonna be like how Aiba wrote his story in "Arashi Write a Fanfic." It's much more organized than that. lol.
Anyway, onto the show.......

Chapter 8
NYC, NY USA
The day had finally come for Toma’s group to perform for their acting class. It had been a short month of practice and the members of their group were slightly nervous and excited all into one.
Mr. Sparks had the different groups assigned for different days to perform, and throughout the whole week, each group had perform the plays they had written, produced, directed, and starred in.
The class was in the smaller theater of the acting division of Julliard, and was reserved only for that class. Backstage, Toma’s group listened for some last minute instructions from Chun. Since this wasn’t a full production, there were no stage managers or costumers, so the group had to improvise with minimal props and costumes. The rest of their classmates and Mr. Sparks waited for them in the seats. Then, the group started.

Scene 1
Montague House, living room
(Mr. and Mrs. Montague walks from Stage Right to Center, Benvolio walks from Stage Left)
Mr. Montague: Hello, Benvolio. How was school?
Benvolio (carrying backpack and a couple of books in his arms): Hello, Auntie and Uncle. It was OK. Teachers gave us loads of homework for the weekend. Fun. (Benvolio rolls his eyes, and sighs with exaggeration.)
Mrs. Montague (peers behind Benvolio, as if looking for something): Where’s your cousin, Romeo? Did he not come home with you?
Benvolio (hesitates, bites lower lip): Um, he’s sort of sad. Um, Rodrigo and he broke up. He’s in his room already. (Benvolio looks down on floor, cringes for his betrayal of Romeo’s secret.)
Mrs. Montague (sighs): Well, you better get Mercutio over here so you and he can cheer him up.
Benvolio (nods and starts walking to Stage Right): OK. I’ll go check up on him right away. (Exits Stage Right. Mr. and Mrs. Montague exits Stage Left.)

Scene 2
Montague House, Romeo’s Room
(Center Stage: Romeo sprawls on the bed, clinging on a pillow. He has a picture in his hand. He is crying quietly. Mercutio and Benvolio enter from Stage Left.)
Mercutio (loudly): Hey there, Romeo Montague, my friend. Heard you got shot down? (Mercutio plops of bed, slaps Romeo’s back. Grabs photo from Romeo’s hand) Whatcha got there?
Romeo (annoys): Stop it. Give it back, Mercutio, you’re so annoying. (Grabs photo back.)
Mercutio (sighs and shakes head): Why do you still like that loser? (Starts singing: “Get Another Boyfriend”)
“Let's talk about one, baby, you gotta hear me out.
Do you really want to be the last to know what it's all about?
Let's talk about who you say is the essence of your life,
But he'll eat you up from inside slow, and then he doesn't wanna know.
I'm telling you. He'll eat you up from inside, and then he doesn't wanna know.
Listen, I mean it there's nothing that he's worthy of

(Romeo gets off bed and starts walking around his room, refuses to hear Mercutio. Mercutio follows where Romeo goes, while singing.)
“I'm telling you, go get on with your life
Stop acting like you're giving up.
(Mercutio grabs Romeo’s shoulders at arms length, as if pleading.)
“Hear me out, you must know what it's all about.
He's just a player in love. This must come to an end.
Get, another boyfriend.”
(End “Get Another Boyfriend”)
Mercutio (still holding Romeo): Listen, I want you to forget him, OK? There’s a party that my boyfriend failed to invite me to, so I’m gonna go and crash it. Benvolio is in, are you in?
Romeo (sighs, looking down): Do I have a choice?
Mercutio (laughs and shakes his head): No, Let’s go.
(Mercutio and Romeo exits Stage Left)

Scene 3
Capulet Mansion
(Music of party scene. Tybalt, Mr. Capulet, and Mrs. Capulet were talking to guests at Center Stage. Servant enters Stage Right and taps Tybalt’s shoulder.)
Servant (sheepishly): Excuse me, Tybalt, sir, but I think there’s someone looking for you at the door. He says he knows you.
Tybalt (sighs and excuses himself. Walks with Servant off to Stage Right. Mercutio, Benvolio, and Romeo stand at Stage Right. Mercutio is angry that he isn’t invited. Benvolio and Romeo stand next to him, avoiding the fight. Tybalt walks over to them.)
Tybalt (sighs): What are you doing here? (Looks at Romeo and Benvolio.) Who are they? (Benvolio and Romeo walk off to Center Stage, and go to different directions. Tybalt looks back at angry Mercutio.)
Mercutio (crosses arms): Why did you not invite me?
Tybalt: Because I don’t want you anymore. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings, by telling you straight up, but I guess I kind of have to.
Mercutio (shakes head angrily): I knew it.
(Sings “Quit Playing Games With my Heart”)
“Even in my heart I see

Sometimes I wish I could turn back time

(Mercutio hits Tybalt's chest, continues singing.)

Tybalt (stops Mercutio’s arms from hitting him any more and sings “Don’t Want You Back.”+)
“Don’t want you back, cuz you’re no good for me, I know.
That’s all I can say.
Don’t want you back, forgive my honesty, but you gotta go.
Don’t want you back.”
(End “Don’t Want You Back”)
(Tybalt walks away to Center Stage. Mercutio stay in Stage Right, sinks to floor, crying.)
(Romeo walks around the house, and sees Julio a few feet away. Julio is slightly facing Stage Right, so Romeo sees the side of his face. Julio turns around to see Romeo staring at him. Romeo smiles, and Julio smiles back shyly. Julio faces forward again. Nurse comes from Stage Left and takes Julio’s hand.)
Nurse (pulling him slightly off Stage Left, facing Audience): There you are, Julio. Your mom’s been looking for you.
Julio (leans closer to Nurse): Nurse, who’s that the boy staring behind us? (Nurse and Julio turns around to Romeo. Romeo still smiles at Julio. Julio chuckles and turns around to face back to Audience. Nurse scowl, facing Audience.)
Nurse: That’s Romeo Montague. He’s the biggest player in the whole town. Don’t you dare get caught up in his web. (Nurse and Julio continue to Stage Left, to where Mr. and Mrs. Capulet stand. Romeo follows, keeping distance.)
Romeo (whispers to himself, looking at Julio): Wow. His eyes are so beautiful. When I look into your eyes, I know the reason why I am alive, and the world is so beautiful tonight.*
(Benvolio finds Romeo and goes next to him.)
Benvolio (grabbing his arm): Cousin, we have to go. Mercutio is feeling sad right now, and wants to leave.
(Romeo pulls his arm from Benvolio’s grasp): No, Coz. I want to stay. I want to talk to him. (Romeo points to Julio. Benvolio pulls on Romeo.)
Benvolio: No way. That’s Julio. His father is strict. He doesn't want him to date, especially with guys. Besides, it’s late, we gotta go. We have school tomorrow.
(Benvolio drags Romeo to exit Stage Right. Romeo still looks at Julio. Benvolio and Romeo exits Stage Right. Julio turns around and finds Romeo not there behind him. Faces to Audience, a sad look on his face.)

Scene 4
Capulet Mansion, outside Julio’s room.
(Enters Romeo from Stage Left, running to Center Stage. He turns around as if to look who is following him.)
Romeo (gasps for air): Good, I lost them. I’ll talk to Mercutio and Benvolio tomorrow. Hmm… am I outside Julio’s window?
(Julio opens his window, and looks out and sees Romeo across the yard, locating slight off Stage Right. He climbs out of the window. And runs to Romeo.)
Julio (smiles): Hi. What are you doing here?
(Romeo takes Julio’s hands.)
Romeo: I just want to see you. Can we talk? (Julio nods. Romeo and Julio sit on the floor, facing Audience. They are still holding hands.) I heard you’re dad’s strict.
Julio (nods): Yeah. He doesn't want me to date until I’m 25. So not fair.
Romeo: That’s too bad. I wanna go out with you cuz I like you. (Romeo and Julio smile at each other for a few moments.)
Julio (shyly): Is it true that you’re a player? (Romeo looks at him in alarm)
Romeo (shakes head): No, but my ex-boyfriend was. I was just pulled along. Did you actually hear that?
Julio (nods): But I don’t believe it. (Sings “As Long As You Love Me”)
“Although loneliness has enough been a friend of mine,
I’m leaving my life in your hands.
People say I’m crazy and that I am blind,
risking it all in a glance.
How you got me blind is still a mystery,
I can’t get you out of my head.

Romeo (smiles and looks deep in Julio’s eyes. Sings “Anywhere for You”)

(Romeo and Julio lean toward each other for a kiss. Nurse interrupts from the window, looking for Julio. Romeo and Julio stop suddenly just before they actually kiss, and jerk head back.)
Nurse (yelling loudly): JULIO!!!
Julio (faces window, finding Romeo): Coming, Nurse!! (Faces Romeo) Listen, I had a great time talking to you, but I gotta get inside before Dad knows I left the room. Will I see you tomorrow at school?
Nurse (yells): JULIO!!
(Julio sighs. Romeo nods his head and kissed Julio’s forehead. Julio gets up to leave.)
Romeo (grabs Julio’s hand before he leaves): Wait. Will you go out with me?
Julio (smiles sings “Yes I Will”):
“Yes I will, I promise you
Everything's gonna be all right
It's gonna be all right
I will.”
Romeo: I’ll see you at school tomorrow. (Romeo exits Stage Right. Julio runs back to window and climbs in. and closes window. Audience sees silhouettes of Nurse and Julio inside the room, talking.)
Nurse: Romeo was outside, wasn’t he?
Julio: Yes, but please don’t tell Dad. I really like him, and I know he likes me, too.
Nurse (sighs): I’m not gonna tell your dad. Just be careful when it comes to Romeo, okay?
Julio: He said he’s not a player.
Nurse: Famous last words.

Scene 5
Verona High School, hallway between classes
(Enter Romeo and Mercutio Stage Right. Enter Tybalt and Paris Stage Left. All meet at Center in shock.)
Mercutio (looks at Paris up and down in disgusts): And who is this cheeky?
Paris (smirks): I’m Paris, Tybalt’s new boyfriend. You must be the clingy ex-boyfriend. (Paris wraps his arms around Tybalt’s waist.)
Mercutio (fumes at Paris): Clingy ex-boyfriend? (Looks at Tybalt.) Is this who you dumped me for? A guy named after some city?
Paris (scoffs): Excuse me? It’s my nickname, hello? They called me that because I’m rich and beautiful. Plus my clothes came from there. (Looks at Mercutio up and down) Unlike some of us.
(Mercutio lunges for Paris. Romeo grabs Mercutio before he can touch Paris. Paris hides behind Tybalt. Tybalt smirks smugly at Mercutio.)
Tybalt: You know what Mercutio? That’s why I left you. You always act “guy” than “gay.” Might as well be straight. No gay guys in their right minds will date you if you act tough. And stop acting like I’m gonna get back with you. I told you that I don’t want you back. Get out of my sight. (Tybalt pushes Mercutio out of the way. Mercutio lands on the floor.)
Romeo (pushes Tybalt angrily): Hey! No one messes with my friend and gets away with it.
Tybalt (laughs at Romeo mockingly): Well, if it isn’t my cousin’s little crush. He’s gonna know if you hit him, and he’s not gonna be happy about it. (Tybalt frowns.) Come and give me your best shot.
(Romeo hesitates. Tybalt smirks smugly at him and turns to Mercutio. Tybalt kicks Mercutio. Mercutio sprawls back on the floor in pain. Romeo lunges at Tybalt, hitting him. Other students gather to see.)
(NOTE TO CASTS: IMPROVISE FIGHT SCENE)
(Principal Prince enters from Stage Left, running angrily.)
Principal Prince (yells): BREAK IT UP!! (Fight stops and everyone turns to Principal Prince.) Who started it?
(Everyone points to Romeo, Mercutio, and Tybalt.)
Tybalt (stammers): What? Wait, I didn’t. Honest, Principal Prince, sir.
Principal Prince (pulls Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio up and drags them off to Stage Left): I knew it would be you three troublemakers. Let’s talk in my office, shall we? (All four exit Stage Left. Everyone exits Stage Right.)

Scene 6
Capulet Mansion, living room
(Enter Mrs. Capulet and Nurse, Stage Left. Enter Mr. Capulet and Tybalt, Stage Right.)
Mrs. Capulet (gasps): What happened, Tybalt? Why do you look so beat up? (Dresses Tybalt’s wounds)
Tybalt (cringes with the sting from the ointment): Mercutio started a fight with me.
Mr. Capulet (fumes, paces back and forth in anger): Those two good-for-nothing guys came and attacked Tybalt in the hallway. Apparently, they were jealous that Paris is now dating him. Ha! I told that Principal Prince that those two were trouble from the beginning. (Enters Julio from Stage Right.) He expelled both of them. Serves them right.
Julio (stops): Who’s expelled? (Julio looks at Mr. Capulet.) What happened, Dad?
Mr. Capulet (looks at Julio): Romeo and his friend Mercutio beat up Tybalt at school. They’re both expelled.
(Julio gasps and heads for Stage Right to exit.)
Mr. Capulet (shouts): Stop. Where are you going?
(Julio turns around slowly and looks at Nurse. Nurse looks down on floor.)
Mr. Capulet (walks closer to Julio): I ask, where are you going?
Julio (hesitates): Um-
Tybalt: He was gonna go to see his new boyfriend, Romeo.
(Mr. and Mrs. Capulet gasps, looks at Julio. Julio glares at a smirking Tybalt.)
Mr. Capulet (angry): Julio, I told you that you’re not allowed to date! And you did so behind my back, and to that troublemaker, no less!
Julio (yells): Dad, he’s not a troublemaker! Everybody just assumes he is because he lives in the poor part of town. He’s actually really sweet and kind.
Mr. Capulet smacks Julio’s cheek. Julio glares at him.)
Mr. Capulet (yells): Do not question my authority, young man. I forbid you to see that scum Romeo again! Go to your room. You’re grounded. You will not leave this house except for school until I say so. (Julio stomps angrily to exit Stage Left.)

Capulet Mansion, Julio’s room
(Julio lies in bed, his cell phone in his hands. Julio dials, then puts phone on his ear. Julio puts it down a few seconds later in disappointment.)
Julio: Damn. Dad still had my service cut off. (sighs) It’s been two weeks since I’ve seen Romeo or heard from him. (leans on the pillow and cries) Romeo, Romeo, where are you, Romeo? I miss you so much.
(Sings “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely”)
“Show me the meaning of being lonely.
Is this the feeling I need to walk with?
Tell me why I can't be there where you are?
There's something missing in my heart.”
(End “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely”)
(A Knock sound effect off stage.)
Julio: Go away!
Mrs. Capulet (off stage): Honey, it’s dinnertime. Come out, you need to eat.
Julio: Not hungry!
(Enters Mrs. Capulet Stage Left, walks over to Julio.)
Mrs. Capulet: Sweetie, please. You’re growing thin. You need to eat.
Julio (turns away from Mrs. Capulet): No don’t care. I’m not hungry.
Mrs. Capulet (sighs): I know how you feel, honey.
Julio (sits up angrily): How would you know? Do you know anything about love? You or Dad! ( Julio gets up and paces around the room.) You know what else? How could you expect for me to grow up into a responsible man if you don’t trust me enough to show you how responsible I could be?
(Sings “Perfect Fan”)
“You showed me
When I was young just how to grow
You showed me
Everything that I should know
You showed me
Just how to walk without your hands.”
(End “Perfect Fan”)
Mom, I THOUGHT you’re my perfect fan. (cries)
(Enters Mr. Capulet from Stage Left. Julio glares at him.)
Mr. Capulet (apologetically): Julio, I heard what you said. (Julio turns to face slightly off to Stage Right, his back to Mr. and Mrs. Capulet.) Listen, son. I’m really sorry. I didn’t know just how much you love that boy. (Julio looks down on the floor, cries softly. Mr. Capulet puts a hand on his shoulder.) I’m really sorry. I found out from Paris that it was Tybalt who started the fight, not Romeo. He was trying to stop the fight between Tybalt and his friend. He was just in the line of fire.
Julio (turns around to face Mr. Capulet): So, what happens to Tybalt?
Mr. Capulet (sighs): Well, I send him back to home to his parents. They told me that if he starts getting in trouble again, I send him back home to get punish. (Julio gives a small smile. Mr. Capulet smiles back at his son. ) Um, you’re right, son. How could you show responsibility if you don’t have a chance to show it? (pauses) You’re not grounded anymore, and I’m allowing you to date Romeo again. (Julio happily hugs Mr. Capulet.) Don’t stay up too late, okay? It’s a school night.
Julio( looks at Mr. Capulet, confuse): What?
Mr. Capulet (smiles): Romeo is waiting downstairs. He’s gonna take you out to dinner.
Julio (hugs Mr. Capulet again): Thanks, Dad! (Julio rushes out to exit Stage Left. Mr. and Mrs. Capulet hold hands as they exit to Stage Left.)
End Scene 7

Capulet Mansion, living room
(Romeo stands slightly between Center and Stage Right. Enters Julio, Stage Left. Romeo waves at Julio. Julio rushes to Romeo in a hug)
Julio (still hugs Romeo): I miss you so much.
Romeo (sniffs): I miss you, too. (Julio and Romeo break out of hug and looks at each other.) You know what? I found out something. (Sings “If I Don’t Have You.”)
“If I don't have you
To hold on to
I can't go on in this world alone
Baby it's true.
If you say goodbye
Boy I would die
I'm a star with no light
A day with no night
If I don't have you”
(End “If I Don’t Have You”)
(Romeo and Julio hug again. They break from the embrace, and exits Stage Right, holding hands)

End Play

Everybody, including Mackenzie, held their breaths anxiously. Then they heard applause erupted from their classmates. Everybody went to the stage to take a bow. Mr. Sparks stood up, and the others followed suit.
“That was a very brave thing to do, guys,” he said, a note of pride in his voice.
“You’re telling us,” Toma and Jun said at the same time. Everybody laughed.
After hugging each other in congratulations, Mr. Sparks dismissed everyone and announced that they’ll meet again for the next group’s performance. After cleaning up, everybody in the group felt like celebrating.
“Yosh, let’s go out and hit the town,” Sarah suggested. Takahisa kissed her on the cheek.
“Good idea, babe,” he said. Everybody stared at them, mouths gaping open in shock.
“What?” Sarah and Takahisa shrugged.
“You thought I’d never get a chance to be with someone like her?” Takahisa asked.
Everyone just kept staring at them. Shrugging, Takahisa and Sarah left the theater hand in hand.
“When did that happen?” Yuya asked, a tinge of envy in his voice. Ariel patted his head.
“Don’t worry Tego, deep down, he’s really in love with you,” she said assuredly. Yuya glared at her. Ariel ran ahead before Yuya kills her. Jun, Vanessa, Sandara, Hero, and Chun ran after them.
“Hey, wait up!” Mackenzie called out, struggling with some props.
“Hey, Toma, can you help out Mackie and return the props for us. Thanks!” Ariel called out from far away.
Toma went back to help Mackenzie and grabbed some of the props. They went to the costume closet and dropped off the clothes they had used, and proceeded next door to put away the rest of the props. The bigger things like the bed, were left for the stage managers to put away later. Once they were done, Toma and Mackie walked to catch up to the rest of the guys. For a moment, they walked in silence, each thought of what to say to the other.
“Hey-“
“Listen-“
They laughed when they started at the same time.
“Douzo,” Mackenzie offered. Toma smiled.
“It’s good to finally be able to speak Japanese to someone else other than Jun,” Toma said in Japanese.
Mackenzie looked at him in confusion. “Aren’t Tego and Massu Japanese?” she replied in Japanese.
“They are, but they both grew up here in the states, so the only Japanese they know are ‘gomen’ ‘sumimasen’ and 'arigatou,’” Toma explained.
Mackenzie smiled, melting Toma’s heart.
“Hey, thanks for helping out with the accompaniment and stuff.”
Mackenzie shook her head. “Iie. I’m just glad to help.”
Toma looked ahead at the horizon. “I guess being beautiful makes you play beautifully,” he said, looking back down at her. Mackenzie didn’t reply, but blushed crimson red instead.
Toma suddenly grabbed her hand. “Hyaku. Let’s catch up before they make us pay for them for being the last ones.” They broke into a run, and Mackenzie noticed he didn’t let go of her hand at all.

Maki closed her eyes to rest them. She was at the library catching up with her projects and reading, waiting for Shun to pick her up. She felt a presence standing across from her, and she opened her eyes. A familiar looking guy stood in front of her. She glanced at him curiously.
“I knew it was you,” he said, smiling. “Is it that a boring book or something?” Maki shook her head.
“We’ve met before, right?” she asked hesitantly. He nodded.
“You ran into me one time when you were in a hurry to get to class,” he reminded her. Maki blushed at the memory.
“I’m really sorry,” she apologized. He laughed. He waved his hand no.
“No, it’s okay,” he said. “ I just came to ask if this seat is taken. The library seems to be full, and I can’t find a table. It must be final exams or something.”
Maki motioned for him to sit. “Douzo,” she said. “Sumimasen. Studying fries my brain instead of strengthening it.”
“I'm Sakurai Sho, by the way,” Sho said as he sat down across the table from her. He took off his messenger bag and placed it on the table.
“Horikita Maki desu,” she replied. “What’s your major?’
“Criminal Law,” Sho replied. Maki’s eyes widen.
“My boyfriend’s a Criminal Law major, too. Actually, he’s interning at the some district attorney’s office. It’s his last year. How about you?”
There was a hint of disappointment in Sho’s eyes when he heard that she had a boyfriend, but he smiled it away. “It’s my last year, too, but I don’t have any offers for internship, yet. So, what’s your major?”
“Elementary Education.” Sho nodded, not really surprised. She looked nice and kind, just like a teacher should.
A tall guy suddenly came up to them. He smiled at Maki and looked curiously at Sho. Sho guessed this must be Mr. Intern.
“Hey, Maki,” he said, sitting down next to her. “Hi,” he said to Sho.
“Shun, this is my friend, Sho. He’s also a Criminal Law student, too.”
“Really?” he said. He reached over to offer his hand, which Sho shook. “How’s it going with your studies?”
Sho shrugged. “Doing as best as I can,” he smiled.
Shun nodded. “It doesn’t help when you have to work and study at the same time,” Shun said, nodding knowingly. He turned to Maki. “Ikou?”
Maki nodded and put her things away. They got up to leave, and invited Sho to eat with them. Sho declined, telling them he still needed to study. They promised to hang out more next time. Sho looked at their retreating backs and sighed. Luckily, Kazunari or Yamapi weren’t around to see his defeat. They would have teased him mercilessly.
