1. The past few weeks were so tiring I spent most of the weekend asleep. I woke up at 11 on Friday, went out to breakfast, then took a nap when I got back home. After dinner, I fell asleep in front of the TV. Yesterday I think I was awake for maybe 8 hours. This would be more fun if I didn't have a paper to write, and if I wasn't feeling so crappy ( Read more... )

How common are the earthquakes?

Not at all. I only remember feeling one other earthquake in my 23 years in this country.

4. Starting tomorrow we are all obligated to fill in some time allocation test for the American government (you were probably forced to do that if you every worked in an American non profit). For an entire week, I will have to account for all my office time in 15 minute increments. I wonder how I should classify LJ and Facebook? Probably both fall under Management & Administration (as do all types of breaks).
Ah yes, the infamous time and motion studies. They are a pain in the butt, but if you fill them out correctly they help out. We used them a lot in early intervention and doing them helped determine caseloads for the therapist because we could then take into consideration things like travel time and administrative/paperwork duties.

Ah, but for us they are not done to be of any use. They are only done to comply with the American accounting non profit tax code or something like that. They need to know how the budget for our office is split up in terms of management, fund raising or programs.

oh, we used ours to determine the amount of staffing we needed to do our jobs and then in turn write our budgets or request funding. It served as proof as to why we needed what we were asking for.
