Math!

1) There's a lot of things I don't like about being a substitue teacher and a lot of things I do like about it. But one thing I most definately love is whenever get even one chance to help a kid with math. ♥ To me, math has always been the most simple of studies, the most wonderful elegance of the logic of numbers. Not a lot to keep in your head, ( Read more... )

Wow, that was a big post and I read most of that while feeding the baby. Anyhoo, I just sit in wonder and stare at all of you guys, my husband included, who can make logic of math. It fails me and I wish I could catch onto it as most of the majors I'm interested in require calc.

I hated. hated HATED when Hubby was subbing. We never knew if it was going to be a good or bad week. Though most teachers didn't start taking off until school was in session for a while around here.

I also adore Batman/Catwomen. I don't think I've read fic for that pairing in a good 4 or 5 years! They have seriously screwed her over on the big screen. We shall not speak of the Holly Berry monstrosity released previously.

I could give you online tutoring, maybe? ^^ Granted, you won't be able to hear my soft "teacher"-voice, that I have perfected with math tutelage. It's unconsciously switched on whenever I ease a kid into the numbers, I just suddenly notice that I speak softer.

There's one word for substitute teaching: Uncertainity. You don't know where, when, with what you will work.

I haven't even seen the monstrosity in question, beyound trailers and movie poster, and it's among my reasons for why there needs to be a catwoman in the new series. A real catwoman! Selina Kyle, catburglar. Like jewels. Especially when they're not legally hers, but whoops they're in her hands anyway, how did that happen? If my comic book history doesn't fail me, I do believe she's the longest going of female villains in comics. And for a reason to.
(Incidentally, here's a good rec for fice reading. It has greatly fed my hunger for Batman/Catwoman, and it also has a good mix of humour with the action and drama.)

1. I skipped most of 1 due to math making my brain hurt. *ducks thrown fruit*

2. I'm still having trouble. :( I'm lost and have no idea what to do. It hurts so much. :( Well, I hope you find something to do. Maybe swim more? ^_^

3. I'm obsessing over politics now. It's getting stressful. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so obsessed, but too late now. Be glad you're not interested!

4. Ooo! I like Batman/Catwoman, too! When Batman: The Animated Series was on Fox Kids, I watched it all the time. And I loved the Catwoman episodes. I always thought she was the prefect match for Bruce/Batman.

5. Swim more! You've got the time. ^_^

6. Yea! Come back more! *tackles* XD

1) MYH! (My expression of being miffed.) Although technically there wasn't math in there. Just my own theories of why people have problems with math. Namely that of mental roadblocks. So basically you're proving my theory here. :P *ducks guitar ( ... )

1. When I count money, I triple check, actually I do more than that. Maybe twelve times. It's bad. My brother is the human calculator.

2. *whimpers* T_T I already experience that. My brother knows exactly what subject to hit to send me into meltdown mode. Not pretty. I can't imagine 10 other kids doing the same. Don't worry about the ramble. We all do it.

3. Great. I actually only have to do with two of them, one on each side. The torture comes from watching the news and the blogs I read.

4. Lovely relationship. The show's reruning on Toon Disney, but I haven't been able to catch it much, I can't remember my favorite episodes. I don't think I watched the dream episode much due to him freaking out and everyone thinking he's crazy, but it does show he's quite attached to her. XD

5. Ah. Okay.

6. Yes! World accepts! XD

you know, me and some of my teacher friends have a whole theory about math fear (at least for Americans). We think that it's because most elementary school teachers aren't good at math, that they went into elementary education because they "like children." And then they pass on their math issues to their students. And say things like "it's okay, not everyone's good at math" but they would never say "it's okay, not everyone's good at spelling." They would tell the kids they just have to learn how things are spelled. And then in Middle and High school, it's hard to improve, because most people who would make good math teachers would never go into education because the pay sucks and they can get way better jobs elsewhere.

Lots of grown people's issues shape kids of tomorrow. Like the whole: "Why can't you boys be as nice and quiet as the girls?" That is one statement I keep myself checked from phrasing, even if in most cases it's too late, the division is already through. In preschoolers, it's very obvious that gender has no bearing on how rambunctious you are or not. But once they're in middle school the boys are clowns, and you're thankful that there is a girl to help you with the standard procedure of that particular school to write down the names of the boys and what they did that disturbed the class.

It's kind of funny to discover the different "house rules" of different schools.
