Doh. I should have thought of the museums myself--I live very close to the Smithsonian, and there are definitely exhibits I haven't seen yet. Our newspaper does have free stuff, but it's mostly oriented toward people who have or are kids.
I'm glad the idea of a celebration isn't totally weird to everyone. My parents think it's bizarre, but then they think a lot of the things I do are bizarre anyway, lol.
