Yesterday was sort of an ordeal, but still better for all concerned then last time. We got to L & D and sat in triage for forever...a couple of emergency sections bumped us, and my midwives' surgeon had a patient at the other hospital who was dilated to 9. gah...I've been straining and bottling honey for hours now - I'm glad to have such a good haul for tomorrow's market (there's more that will probably be capped and we'll spin that out for ourselves at the end of Oct. if we can) Off to switch bottles again. -

Gi is pretty content right now, a nice change from a crazy sick kiddo weekend. She had viral tonsilitis and was miserable. She perked up yesterday and last night we all went to the boardwalk. Question!
TOday at the slow food market, a woman who has a new juice bar asked us to supply her with wheatgrass...I have no idea how much wheatgrass a typical medium-traffic juice bar uses per week, or how much to charge her per tray (we'll be growing it in standard nursery trays, picking up used ones and delivering new once a week. What do you think? -

It's the kind of snowy day I like today - easy to drive in, temps just below freezing, and no wind. I was going to head over to my mom's with the kiddo so that she could han gout there and I could get a hair cut, but the hairdresser called out today. I know I should adore the free time before my dad brings Gi home on Fridays, but since it's a break in routine I always end up not knowing what to do with myself... I'm going to make an egg cream and take out the baby quilt I'm working on, that should help ( Read more... ) -

E just got back from the feed store and they have baby emus! I'm tempted, but we don't really go in for exotic livestock around here, especially the kind that don't have much benefit to the farm - maybe one in with the chooks to prevent predation? A guard emu ( Read more... ) -
cold
we ran out of heating oil yesterday - our local guys forgot to come this month - and it's 12 degrees. gah. We've had the fire going 24/7 since, and I don't think the pipes froze, but it's certainly brisk in here. I got up with ms. early-bird and am trying to get the fire up and running, it keeps dying down and just smoldering....I'll be back ( Read more... )
