Jasper and I are super in love right now. Hearts and flowers, mushy, over-the-moon, in love. Of course, we've always loved each other, but I admit, it felt a little one-sided until a few months ago.

I've never kept a diary,  I don't take many photos on vacations, and I videotape nothing. I want to. I'd love to have a better record of my experiences but somehow I'd rather have the experience than take the time to record it.

Here's what I've learned in the past year:

That all the should we/shouldn't we questions about whether to try to have a baby seem so far away. It has turned out even better than all the items in the "pro" column and most of the "cons" turned out not to matter much. If I had known how fun it would be I wouldn't have struggled over it so much.

 So, here's a little something I've noticed since I gave birth. People with dogs, but no children, keep comparing my love for my baby with their love for their dog. I can't tell you how often this happens.

Oh there's just too much to say and not enough time. If I had a nanny I could use this space to chronicle the changes my little boy has gone through the last two months. I'm lucky I have time to check email or a quick Facebook update.

I suppose I should update with some sort of birth story (TITLE: I didn't expect the vomiting) now that the Great Mystery is solved. All my questions and worries were answered on October 2, 2010.

In short:

• Healthy
• A boy
• No birth defects
• No port wine stain
• All toes and fingers accounted for
