Queers United (queerunity ) has this to say today about Dr. Phil and his transphobic bullshit:

t seems Dr. Phil likes to capitalize on transgender misunderstanding and hatred on his show.

"You fool me once shame on you, you fool me twice shame on me"

We must commit to no longer stand idly by as Dr. Phil continues his knack and enjoyment for stigmatizing trans ( Read more... )

Dr Phil has creeped me out for years, I'm not surprised by the homophobic/transphobic bullshit.
And it's things like Duanna being murdered that keep me from being able to trust the police. Thank you also for linking to an article that doesn't have comments, those are always the worst.

I honestly didn't do so on purpose, but I will keep it in mind for the future.

I don't usually care since I never, ever, ever look at them unless I want to be angry, but I had accidentally hit the "end" key and was surprised.

Today I had a male customer buy some bath salts for himself (I work at Bath & Body Works).

He went on and on and on about how "is this good for men? I mean MEN, I'm one of the last REAL men, are you sure REAL men use this? It's sad if you think the pansies these days are REAL MEN".
It really skeeved me out. Attitudes like that are how cases like Duanna Johnson's get started.

I remember (because my mother used to make me watch it with her every day) Dr. Phil once had on a lesbian couple that was originally a heterosexual couple until one of them transitioned, and he made them seem pretty normal, to me anyway, but the memory is a little fuzzy. I remember the transwoman talked a lot, and Phil seemed to take it in respectfully ( ... )

His assumption of normative gender roles and hackneyed gendered likes and dislikes as cis and nonnormative as trans is a whole nother layer of offensive in the hatecake.

I’m so disappointed in Dr. Phil. I used to adore his show.

Also, not all transmen were tomboys growing up. And not all transgirls adored pink.

Not all cisboys or cisgirls fell in those fucking categories either. It's like he's trying to talk about gender identity using some book he got at a thrift store that was published in 1865.

A frowny face in your general direction, Dr. Phil. I've really never liked the guy; he always struck me as a bully.
