Well I've officially walked, but I'm not graduated quite yet. However yesterday morning I finished the last bits of the dissertation and today I get to hand it to one committee member (the other being out of town until next week). Bossman has given me the go ahead to hand those in though he hasn't yet said he'd sign it ( Read more... )

Another one? I'm not sure I could handle ANOTHER 6 years of grad school. Though the avoiding the real world part is nice. How many letters can you get after your name?

Hey! There's nothing wrong with getting a second doctorate! All the cool kids are doing it. ;-)

You are being completely neurotic and it'll be ok. Of course, I'm not a psychologist, so there's no reason to accept MY diagnosis.

As for the cleaning of lab-equipment...isn't that what junior grad students and undergrads are for?

I'm the only one left here. That's the problem. All the junior students and undergrads are in San Diego. Though the bossman did say at one point he'd send some people up here. hmmmm

Maybe a few students willing to do cleaning for class credit? Or a bonus to their grades? Since you're leaving, maybe Loupy has such students...

Yeah, it's a thought. But I'd rather have someone trained in chem. hygine who has some decision making capacity. *shrug* It's not THAT much left. I'm going to leave some of it until bossman decides when the rest of the crew is coming.

I'm sure you'll never stop being a student of life and moving into employment will just open up other learning opportunities - it did for me! It's just hard getting used to the "they want something out of me"s rather than the "cram stuph in my brain"s.
