tabiod news

I understand how easy it is to be swept in by "news" stories. I've been reading celebrity gossip on and off since 2004. ohnotheydidnt was the first LJ community I really participated in, and I'm actually not ashamed to admit that. With that said, can we please start looking at the source before we judge any story to be true. I'm tired of seeing people here and ( Read more... )

at the end of the day, nothing is worth believing unless it comes straight from the persons mouth.
that is the only way ill believe it.. in the end all these tabloid magazines and websites all want the same thing, publicity, and theyll do whatever it takes to achieve that.

Yeah, I agree. However, when it comes to legal situations, the TMZ staff are generally on the up and up.

I'd only trust TMZ and maybe, People depending on the story

People is a little different, though. They're not so much a "tabloid" as they are a lifestyle magazine - I don't even think they have investigative reporters, do they?

Unrelated, but I have to give People props for their fair and equal treatment of same-sex couples and the the GLBT community in general, too. I've always loved that about them.

I'm getting really sick of all of the stories that are posted from the Sun, the Globe, US, NoTW, Contact Music, etc. Those articles are designed to invoke a gut reaction, and are usually (at best) a gross distortion of the actual truth. These are the tabloids that made their money tearing down Michael when he was alive, and they are continuing to do it in the wake of his death.

I do agree with you that TMZ usually winds up being right, but I have a major problem with the obsessive amount of coverage they give every last detail of a story, and speculating to make it into something important (e.g. digging up Grace Rwaramba's high school yearbook suggesting that she's a stalker because she was an MJ fan when she was 17). I generally bothered by the fact that they make money by prying into people's lives, even if they do manage to turn up real stories. It's the whole culture I have a problem with, I guess ( ... )

Yeah, ia about TMZ.

I don't know if you've noticed, but that site doesn't even have a lot of updates daily....because they don't post what they can't confirm.

Exactly.

I don't understand why people act like TMZ's a dirty site. They are very respectful for the business they're in.

I will believe only the music... and official sources like Karen and MJ's official site (even though Sony runs it I think).
