Hay bbs. I'm new to most of Janet's work outside of The Velvet Rope, so I'm sure this discussion is old as hell - but I was listening to this song earlier, and I was SO CONVINCED that Carly's spoken parts were Michael! This. Also, I wish they would've performed it ["Scream"] live.

I remember Janet was asked in some interview, right after "Scream" was released, why it took her and Michael so long to finally collaborate. If I'm recalling correctly, she said Michael had brought up the idea before, but she wanted to establish herself as an artist on her own first. And after the back to back successes of Rhythm Nation/janet., she felt she had.

Have you heard Don't Stand Another Chance on her Dream Street album? Michael does some vocals on that song :-)

I just listened again and you can't hear him much on the album version, but there's another version 2 minutes longer where you can hear more of him!

Jackson's second album, Dream Street, was released two years later. Her father recruited her brothers to help produce the album: Marlon co-wrote two of the album's tracks, while Tito, Jackie and Michael provided background vocals.
