Me, I Want an Alpaca

Many thanks to friend Turqois for alerting me to this site, Oxfam America Unwrapped. Some of you will be getting livestock for Christmas this year--I trust that's okay. I am almost dismayed to see how reasonably-priced a lot of this stuff is. "Dismayed" in that "Why haven't I done this before?" kind of way. I do want to see if it's possible to ( Read more... )

Amen. I am equally dismayed. And kind of craving some livestock after scoping this out. Per my recent conversation with Lady_Frolick, it does make you realize how privileged we really are (since I just spent enough on DVDs and computer games to buy a cow AND irrigate a farmer's land for two months).

We should put together a pool to fly you to NYC to see the Busie-Body at FU. I'm sure your version (with alternate ending) is better.

I'm going to second Salient on the ending--obviously, giving women the last word thereby restoring the universe to its rightful order takes precedence over praising Providence (however great it may be, both literally and figuratively).

And having had pneumonia so badly that they thought it was meningitis and I had to have a spinal tap (BTW--very SCARY), all I can say is feel better!

If there's a way to keep your body less busie, it might heal more quickly -- love and wishes for rest to you, my lovely!

you are still my idol... what a great idea... not that I can buy any livestock right this second, but I am pleased to know where to go when I do have a little extra so I can irrigate some farmer instead of irritating my husband LOL

Feel better! You poor thing. Your damn dean is running you into the ground? How did that course-reduction conversation go, by the way?

And thanks for posting this. I'm all for do-gooding. Actually, what do people think about an LJ cow for Christmas? We could all chip in a few dollars and make it a collective thing. . . I'd be willing to front the money. I actually have a paypal account, so it would be easy to do.

Oh, I have my course reduction still. :-) My chair went semi-ballistic on the dean, in her extremely well-mannered, polite-as-a-queen manner. I wish I could have seen it. Now we're agitating for some tech help.

Oooo, ooo, yes! Sign me up for the cow contribution! (Although maybe it should be a herd of goats, in honor of LJ Frank? Hee!)
