[Open to everyone!]

Turn the right way down any street, glance down an unexpected alley, maybe you'll see it out of the corner of your eye. Maybe you'll catch a hint of the music drifting out of the invitingly open wooden doors. There's always something. It wants to be found, this in, this bar, this club, this pub, this restaurant. It has many ( Read more... )

Lucas should probably be more concerned with how he got here. After all, life is all about the journey. But the journey here was rather short, and besides, Mark doesn't seem very bothered. So he just follows his friend's lead.

Especially since Mark is the only person here that he knows. Oh well, no time like the present to meet new people.

"Hi! Guy I don't know!" Mike beams. He's carrying champagne and offers a glass to Lucas as he says, "welcome to the party!"

"Hello." Lucas greets, "I'm Lucas. I came with um, with Mark?" He glances around over his shoulder for his friend.

"Oh thanks," he says, finally taking the glass of champagne even though bubbles make him sneeze. He holds the glass in that casual, social way he sees people do. "This is a very nice party."

"Thanks! I'm Mike. This is my party. Well, I mean, it's everybody's party, really, 'cause what's a party without guests? OH! Mark with the shoes, Mark?"

(He asks, like this should make any sense to any one.)

"I met him at the twins birthday thing!"

The Winter Solstice - longest night of the year, and one of the times at which universal forces are poised to begin their slow rotation. Illyana Rasputin loves this night, the longest before the dawn.

Illyana hasn't been out in a while, not socially anyway, but remembered to wash the blood off ehr hands before slipping into a pretty handmade dress and 'porting to World's End.

"There's no apostrophe," Mike says, who happens to be standing right there, in suitable annoying Mike-fashion. "It's less a statement of place, but of inevitability: Worlds End. All-in-all," he adds, with sudden cheer, "it's best not to think about it, really! Hello, little light!"

"Did you just---" Read my mind is the rest of the sentence, but her teacher used to scold her about asking man's questions. That is, questions you already know the answers to.

So she shakes her head and smiles. "Hello, Mike. You are looking well." And male.

"I don't have to read your mind to know what you're thinking about," Mike says cheerfully. "I know things. And now I've said that, I think I owe Layla royalties."

He has two glasses of champagne. He may have had them all along. Or they just appeared. Who can really say? Well, Mike could, probably, but he just holds one out.

Terry's excited to be here. She hasn't been to a Mike Party in a while, and they're always memorable.

She doesn't waste any time, and steps into the heart of the party, ready to enjoy herself with her friends.

Poor Terry because at this point she's used to it and doesn't even flinch.

"Oh hush, you. I've got an army at my command. Eventually."

She looks him up and down, smiling. "Nice pants."

For once Jeanne-Marie does not arrive with her brother (or his boyfriends), instead she arrives a tad later than the other three in what she hopes is proper and yet festive attire. Looking around the Inn she spots her brother but decides to let him mingle by himself, instead she treats herself to a glass of white wine and stands quietly by one of the large and brightly lit windows.

"Hey, Jeanne-Marie," John says, immediately spotting her and coming over to say hello. He's not sure where JP is-- JP has a lot of friends to get to, usually. Sure, John does too, but he finds himself standing in the corner alone a lot, and he wouldn't wish that upon anyone, actually.

Especially sweet Jeanne-Marie.

"So," he says, and it's only a little bit slurred - he's already drunken more then he has in, oh, well. A long time, really. He smiles at her. "Looking forward for Christmas in Montreal? I am!"

Jeanne-Marie leans over and gives John a kiss on either cheek, a traditional Beaubier welcome.

"Hi hi," she says and her smile falters a little at the mention of their Christmas holiday. "I think so, it's always strange for me to go up back home but at least this time you, Doug and Jean-Paul will be with me."

"I'm glad you're looking forward to it though," she says, putting the focus back on John, "do you and Doug want to see anything in particular?"

John frowns, but only for a second. It almost seemed that Jeanne-Marie wasn't looking forward to their vacation, but he was positive JP would've spoken to her about that and they would have worked it out.

But he can't help but grin when she asks him about it. "Well, I don't know, I've never been! You guys will have to pick some good places to show us." He shrugs lightly. "I'm just happy to see where you guys are from, you know? I know it's important to JP."

Kon floats in, in his civvies, and very glad to be away from homework for once. This entire secret identity thing just isn't working for him at all these days. And, besides, people who don't really want to know tend to remain blissfully ignorant in any case. Humans are funny like that.

"Kon," John greets.

John isn't blissfully ignorant, but he does have a boyfriend who flies, and another who knows every language ever, and hey he controls fire, so really. It's not out of the ordinary for him to see that.

"How's it going, man?"

"All right. World saving is kind of slow around Christmas. But man I have so much homework. It's not cool." Kon grabs for a passing tray of cookies. "So. You're still a good guy, right?"

"Yep, still a good guy. Disappointed?" John pauses for a moment, and then comments, "Homework sucks."
