So I went to the Red Cross book sale yesterday. Everything was half-price by then, so I scored pretty well for $4.75 (three CDs, four books). One of these was in the History of Civilization series by Will and Ariel Durant; some asshole let that go out of print, like nobody wants to read it or anything.

Oh I'm envious! I would love to find a copy of Princess Amy again -- not that I've really looked hard -- but I read it when it first came out (so I was about 6 or 7) and was enthralled by the D&D like game that they were playing -- not that I remember the details at all, just a vague sense of some sort of LaRP going on. Hmn, I wonder if I can find it at a library?

A library with a good YA Poo section, or a used-book sale (which is where I got mine). The LARP-type thing is one of the more interesting parts of the book; my favorite scene involves seven-year-olds, Silly String, and the phrase "cruel dwarfs".
