I think I know who was in the spacesuit.

This is my best guess and will probably change a kajillion times before we know. Please don't laugh at my "Eureka!" moment if you've already figured it out; sometimes I'm slow. Feel free to poke holes in my theory if I'm missing something.

Snipped for possible spoilers. I expect any comments will also be filled with spoilers. If you don't want to be spoilered, don't read. )

My current theory is that it's River and the little girl in the space suit, because they're the same person, and both of them are Amy's Maybe-Baby.

Mmm, wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

(Honest to god, I have loved this show for 20+ years and people who bitch about the Moff's love of time-travel shenanigans can bite me; it's the first time a major facet of the setting has been used to its full potential.)

Whoa, I hadn't even considered that possibility. Food for thought.

But I'm with you on the use of time-travel. It's often used more as a conceit than an actual mechanic, and, dammit, as a mechanic, it's pretty damn awesome!

Admittedly I picked up the River-is-Amy's-bb theory from someone in the comments of a discussion on Part 1, before 2 had aired, but I feel draaaawn to it.

I had this same thought, and I mentioned it to my husband after we saw the episode. He held his head and said "Ugh. You're probably right, but I hope not." LOL

I believe in the episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures that Matt Smith/Eleven guest starred on, he says that the Time Lords were the ones who enforced the "13 generations only" rule and now that they are gone, he can keep going as long as he wants to. It was sort of a bitchy way to change that canon, doing it off the main show, but I believe it is generally considered true facts now. I can try and dig up links/references if you like?

Anyway I agree about being suspicious that it is River in the space suit. I don't want it to be true. Also there are a lot of creepy parallels to the episode where we meet her, The Silence in the Library. She is wearing a space suit then, and the episode title. It could definitely be foreshadowing.

Ooh, very interesting. Especially since in "Silence in the Library" she knows the Doctor's name, which he can only tell someone at a certain point and it's implied that he was dying when he told her.

See, and I always thought it implied they were getting married when he told her!

I really do love not knowing and all the different theories of what could be going on.

Huh, it could be marriage, too!

I am simply going to let the story unfold.
Of course, even though he is Doctor #11, I think the Doctor might continue past #12. The Master did. He could too. Of course, timey wimey and such all goes haywire with the Doctor. One of the Doctor's enemies back in #6 time was... the Doctor, supposedly from somewhere between his 12th and final incarnation, the sum of all his own evil. It'd be interesting if he made an appearance, though he seems to have been forgotten about.

I also run with the River Song is the "maybe baby" who is also the little girl in the space suit.

Reasons:
1. River Song can work the sonic screwdriver & tardis.
2. The little girl obvious has regen powers like the doctor.
3. It is implied the River Song killed the doctor.
4. In the last bit River Song doesn't realize that she isn't in a relationship with the Doctor & she has stopped saying "spoilers" to the doctor. It is as if she assumes he knows why she is in jail.
5. Amy said that she was afraid being in the tardis with the baby would do woogie woogie things to it... it makes sense that woogie woogie things would make a River Song.
5. Amy is in the picture with the baby in the "nursery"

I can't wait for the next episode!
