This is my best guess and will probably change a kajillion times before we know. Please don't laugh at my "Eureka!" moment if you've already figured it out; sometimes I'm slow. Feel free to poke holes in my theory if I'm missing something.
Anyway, who do I think is in the spacesuit?
River Song.
Okay, what we know about her: she's in the Stormcage Containment Facility because she killed "a very good man. Best man [she's] ever known" (Time of Angels | Flesh and Stone). Right there, I assumed she somehow killed the Doctor, because who else would she describe that way?
I don't know why she would, though I'm assuming she has a very good reason. (If nothing else, on a purely meta level, this is the Doctor's twelfth regeneration. He only gets one more, which could be hell on a very popular franchise. Perhaps this is a way to restart that clock. Or maybe it has something to do with the little girl, I don't know.)
So, since we're following the Doctor's timeline, our first meeting with River is our last; she sacrifices herself in the library and survives on in the sonic screwdriver. This also means that even though we see River in the Stormcage all the time, she has not yet committed whatever crime that has her arrested in the Doctor's timeline. I didn't pick it up then, but she makes a comment in "The Impossible Astronaut" that she feared meeting a Doctor who did not know her. I was puzzled, because she already had, not truly understanding that, from River's perspective, she had not yet. We are meeting progressively younger Rivers--which is making my brain hurt when I try to think about the relationship she has with Amy and Rory, but I digress.
(
Here's an excellent chart detailing their backwards relationship.)
So...yeah. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it--at least, until a better theory comes along. Thoughts?
