I really wish my grandfather got to see this. And my Uncle Jon. And Uncle Tad. And Uncle Craig, oh god yes. Not (just) because they're black, but because they lived through times of turbulance and struggle and strife, and they were part of the generation(s) that made this possible ( Read more... )

Really, it doesn't matter if Democrats get 60 or not... they don't have strict party discipline. On any measure for which you could get all 60 of those Democrats to vote for something, you can get 5 Republicans to vote for that thing.

I'm glad you're happy. (My latest post isn't about you, fwiw.)

Yea, I was not at all expecting to hear how Cali was voting on prop 8... how did that happen? we're more conservative, and even though question 1 was more vague than prop 8, I'm very SURPRISED to hear that the ban went through.

I had a thought. There are religions/cultures that have same sex realtionships - why don't people try to gain legal/constitutional creedance via these religious outlet? It would be a beautiful fight. Freedom of religion verse constitutional admendments. heheheheh ]:P
