If you elect a black president, take a drink

I really wish my grandfather got to see this. And my Uncle Jon. And Uncle Tad. And Uncle Craig, oh god yes. Not (just) because they're black, but because they lived through times of turbulance and struggle and strife, and they were part of the generation(s) that made this possible.

And, with spite, I wish Strom Thurmond was, too.

CT voted down the constitutional convention--starting November 12th, men and women can marry the individual of their choice. And to California, my heartiest sympathies. Though the last votes have not been tallied 100%, things are looking grim. Still, I have hope that not too far in the future, this will no longer be a question; like interracial marriage: same-sex couples will have firmly taken their civic rights in hand, and we stand strong and confident in a country that's a little more free.

And, y'know, I'd like rainbows and puppies. Still, I can hope. Don't harsh my mellow, man.

And c'mon, Senate! Only four more seats for clouture! You can do it!

rainbow-centerness, welcome to my lj, political, family
