E-book Layouts and Other Insane Topics

Tonight I uploaded two formated e-books into Amazon for another publisher.  I ended up doing the Kindle conversion myself and tweaking the layout when it was apparent that the format wasn't pretty on the Kindle.  I'm kind of picky in that regard.  It then goes through the entire Amazon approval process and eventually goes live ( Read more... )

Glad you brought up the dark sausage-making way e-book formating really works -- a lot of cussing and trial and error, and constant re-tweaking and uploading the damn thing a dozen times before it looks right on the Kindle preview.

It takes me 10 times longer to create one damn Kindle e-book than to do a paper print title AND cover for Norilana Books!

Oh and Smashwords -- don't even go there -- 15 times longer!

I hate e-book production.

But let me tell you how I REALLY feel. *grin*
