Today, I killed my first character, and I'm a little more upset about this than I thought I'd be. I don't know if I'm going to be able to write in that universe for a little while. So this is my vigil for [person]. Bring candles.

I'm sorry about your character. I'm too much of a coward; whoever needs to die in my books is already dead when I'm starting to write. how did the character die?

I'm sure all of my friends are laughing at me right now; I always talk about killing characters and doing really horrible things, and, now that I've done it, I feel kind of sick. I think it hurts more because, while the death is neccessary for the overall plot arc, within the context of the story it's incredibly meaningless. Character gets shot in the head by a security guard who doesn't think he/she is worth the trouble of not killing him/her. Twisted, yeah?
