Thanks to all who sent kind thoughts and offers of appliances after my last post. The power started flickering yesterday with the high winds, and at this point we have shut it off at the breaker, because we are getting insane power surges. In our bathroom, three bulbs popped, and the last one was shining at approximately the rate of a 100 watt bulb: it is rated for 40. It too gave up the ghost after while.
