Title: Insomnia Author: shadowbyrd Rating: PG - 13 Pairing[s]: Jack/Tosh Prompt: 33. Worried for otp_100 Spoilers: Takes place after Countrycide, allusions to Fragments. Summary: Jack and Tosh after the cannibals.
That was really lovely--very sweet, subtle and striking. It's always hard to integrate what we learnt in Fragments with previous episodes, but I love the way that you did it here. Beautiful fic!
*shoe scuff* I'm rather ashamed that it took me as long as it did to draw these two events together. Forget all the traumatised&beaten!Ianto and shot!Gwen, how bad an episode did Tosh have when she finally got home? Thinking about it like that, the sense of isolation in GBG just gets worse and worse.
I love the dynamic you've caught here, Tosh being quite capable of looking after herself, but willing to let Jack help out anyway, and Jack worrying about his team without going all mother-hen on them. The gentle humour and real affection comes through so strongly.
(Sorry I've been late getting back to you. I lose)
When I think about the two of them they're always very reciprocal; in CJH Jack spends half the episode assuring Tosh he'll look after her, and following the J/r!J handporngrab she re-assures and comforts him. Their last look at the end of Exit wounds I always read as each trying to be strong for the other and re-assure them that it's all okay.
They had a nice best-friend vibe in some episodes. I wish it had been plumbed a bit more, especially since we've seen how that relationship began.

Now that you mention it, that's one of my least favourite things about Torchwood!Jack (or indeed canon!Jack as some insist on calling him).
Glad you enjoyed it.
