Patrick lays down fully on Pete, pinning his hands above his shoulders. “Then breathe with me,” he tells him.

I LOVE that, too much. One of the most amazing lines of a fic I have ever read. Anyway, I'm bad at critiquing, so I'll just leave it at I thought this was really excellently written and sad. :[

I read this, and right after I finished, it just hit me so hard. I started crying. Just the thought of their relationship breaking apart like this. It hurts my heart.

The immediacy of his panic is evaporating into depression, spiraling beyond the blow to his ego and into the vicinity of his deepest fears: getting old (his body failing), and being alone (his image fading).

I really liked this. You really captured a crumbling relationship well and I liked how you included this idea of just clinging onto the end of the rope. I have a hard time placing Patrick, it's hard to think that he's congnizant of the failures of Pete and his relationship while he still is sort of admitted defeat by flirting with ryan and beckett and all that jazz.

but this is great! i really enjoyed reading this.

I trying (not successfully?) to imply that they didn't really have a relationship to start with? The story was kind of about the process by which Patrick realizes that while Pete has always expected they would have a relationship someday, Patrick now knows that they can't -- and that maybe the band can't last either. Um. Or something to that effect. :)
